It's gettin way beyond muddy here ya'll. Never in the 20 years we've lived here have we had this happen with cattle. 4....Four!!! were stuck in the mud to day, two dead, and two that we pulled out but probably won't make it. Just out in the pasture....where normally everything's fine...even on a hill.....sugar sand just can't hold any more water...and it looks like they just stood there and sank. Up to their bellies.

Ok..I"m officially fed up with February.....I want some warm dry weather for a while!!!!!

That is sad, Jersey Lilly. A drought is very bad, but too much water can almost be worse. Hope things dry out soon and get back to normal.

I am so sorry that you lost those animals. There are few things more disheartening than losing livestock in any way, but especially in such a freaky manner.

Losses are bad at anytime but weather and predator related seem to be the hardest to deal with for some reason.

I know how ya feel,,in January we lost 11 head of cows that fell through the ice on the lake and drowned...Never had that happen before..the cows never wandered onto the lake...It's a sad sight and depressing, not to mention hard on the pocketbook! Sorry it happened to you and Mr. Lilly, cause I know you take such good care of your cows..it's hard...

Thats a tuff deal fer sure. My neighbor lost 13 last week they were grazeing standing corn that was moldy guess it was to much of the wrong mold.

So sorry for all ya'lls losses as well. I is a helpless feeling.

Haymaker they were on the highest hill on the place. That's what was so hard to "get" Aint never had mud like this before.

Sorry for all the losses, it has been bad here but the chalk soils seem to hold out well even with the flood volume of melting snow and following rain. The outdoor pigs have made a mess in places, but we will harrow those paddocks when the weather warms up.

I'm not sayin I don't want rain...lol Cuz this ground seems to be able to turn dryer'n a pop corn fart almost as quick as it can flood. So hopin the good Lord is hearin me....we do still want good rains thru out the year to keep the grass growin Just need a few weeks of dryer weather and warmth to get it started. It's one of those "be careful what you pray for" situations.
