With the Temps getting warmer it was time for Miss Jade's summer haircut...With her long hair and all the stickers and matted hair she gets, she's pretty happy AFTER the haircut is done...In fact the second she was done she took off running and playing and I didn't get a picture of the after look..lol

One of our dogs gets styled at home too. I should take a picture of him and see if anyone can guess what type of dog he is. :D

My Aussie get his shave twice a yr, once about late April and he's due for another buzz cut now!!! He's a mostly black tri color and and that ol' black hair here in the summertime is hard on him.

Mine gets too ' twisty' to handle so he goes to the local groomer.

$20 bucks, 20 minutes, no blood, no tears, no cussin and no dog bites.....PRICELESS!!!

I know what you mean about matted hair and stickers... especially with needle grass season coming up  . My other female dog has terrible hair to keep nice. My friend who grooms dogs recommended Oster's undercoat rake, and it works wonderfully! You may check it out as a way to keep the matting out in between trips to the parlor! :D My dog is so much more comfortable without nasty matting pulling on her ears and flanks.

I groomed dogs for years, and I've seen some amazing things come out of coats. Once found a sucker, not even half eaten!

Since I did it at a vet clinic, we would get the BAD dogs that groomers wouldn't do. The once a year St. Bernards, and nasty little lapdogs with rotten teeth, no manners and you know what stuck to their butts.

One time a guy brought in a four year old poodle who had never had a haircut! This dog lived on a farm and spent a lot of time out with cattle and whatever. Not a phoo phoo lap dog by any means, but nevertheless, he was a purebred miniature. He had a coat that almost reached to the floor, and hadn't seen anything clearly past his hairy face in a long time. The guy didn't give me any directions, just said clip him, so I decided to use my discretion and "Poodle him up". I got most of the coat off in one big piece, and found a really nice dog underneath it. I even gave him a pom pom on his head and tail, and managed to not have to shave his ears. He had the little poms around his ankles too! He quite frankly looked like a million bucks. Anyway, the guy shows up to get his dog, and while he was paying for the haircut, I let the dog out. The owner was standing at the counter, and this poodle was going balistic bouncing off his leg, and he says to me, "Are you going to bring me my dog now?" His face was priceless when I told him that the poodle WAS his dog.    He said he had no idea he owned such a fancy dog. He didn't let his coat get so far out of control again.

Today we had to gather, pair up, sort, and move some cows today..Started at 5AM- but by the time I got them trailed the last couple miles and headed back to the trailer it was hot and muggy...I noticed how bad Jud and Sam were suffering in the heat- even losing Sam for awhile and found him later laying out in the middle of the creek (mostly mud) trying to stay cool....

Decided it was time for these boys to get a haircut too-so the SIL went to work with his clippers.....

Left him a tailswitch- but otherwise he's pretty naked..

I don't think Sam enjoys his new cool GI haircut- as he's hiding in the corner...

LOL..I'll have to show "Jade" your boy'z pictures..maybe then she won't feel so bad...as beautiful as these dogs are with their long hair...they sure wouldn't win any beauty contests now...cute..thanks
