We might dodge a bullet on the oil comein in to our part of the gulf. Some kind of current that will take it to the kees and around the east coast. If they don't stop it, it might oil up the world. I got 2 more roped out heifers today on my rental deal. I saw all My rentees and they were in good shape. They looked roped but were healthy. That's 6 so far I got I think. They sure shape up in a couple weeks on good grass and act like a bunch of old pets. I recon I got to name them 3 should calf soon by a streat corrintee bull. The lady I met today said when the economey was good they were payin as much as 550 for a goodin. That would work. What do you northern ropers pay for them?

News yesterday was they had a tube inserted in the original well pipe and were pulling a majority of the oil off and had most of the leaking stopped, oil wasn't coming up on the coast like they expected and things were looking optimistic. Have no idea though, you know how the news reports things.

 ...That would be the Gulf Stream I do believe... ...Everyone seems to be just horrified...Please the earth has been leaking petrol from the get go...and yes in large amounts..It is not a wonderful thing...and this is not a natural seep...but we gotta keep on going...didn't Mexico have this issue back in the 70's or so???

Maybe it's not as bad as some say. I've always perpered for the worst and hoped for the best. That way, if its bad, I'm ready. If its good, that's great. Our county has a lot of coast line. Oysters, scrimp, fish and clam farmin as well as sports fishin and nature tours.that would go away.

cowhunter, i took the last two weeks off of work to be down on the coast with my mudboat. i contracted to BP to pull booms and to check alot of the marsh down there for contaminations. Let me point one thing out to everyone. IT IS NOT AS BAD AS THE MEDIA MAKES IT SEEM. yes, there are millions of gallon of oil spread over a vast area, but this is still not half as bad as the exxon valdez. also BP is not wholly responsible for what happened. Blowbacks like this happen all the time, this one just happened to be bad enough to take down the rig.

there are alot of protesors down there to stop drilling on the coast. and most of them showed up in their gas guzzling suvs. I have also lost alot of respect for some of Louisianas own commercial fishermen. They are crying to the media about not making a living but will not use their boat for cleanup purposes where they will make 1500 bucks a day. Since i had to come back to work, a buddy of mine that was laid off from a plant in february, has taken over my boat down there and is paying me a portion of the per diem. it helps us both out now.

On a good note. My cousin, who was on the rig when it blew, has finally healed up enough to be out and about.

I am a bit closer to the leak than cowhunter and can tell you from here it is looking really bad. Had some friends go out to the edge (nick named the nipple) it is twenty miles out from the Pensacola Pass an area I have fished a bunch. They reported no oil as yet but they could smell burnt oil which must be from the burning they are doing. This was last weekend, as of yesterday they have closed that portion of the Gulf. We still have not had any oil on our beaches but a change in wind direction is all that it will take to change that. We have already had numerous reports of dead dolphins and sea turtles. I sure hope they can get this sucker stopped the tube they inserted has slowed the flow instead of 5000 barrels a day they are estimating 3000 barrels a day.

My brothers in the silt control business. He invented a product that let's water run threw it and holds the silt. He's tested it for oil and it works good. Its made of recycled stall shavings that have been redryed and there stuffed in a biodegradible mesh sausage like tube about a ft in dia. Its already dot aproved. He's talked to bp and everybody he can out that way but nobody interested. He's even offered to take and install a load for free for a test but no takers. Go figer.

Cowhunter,

Sounds like he is on to something good I hope BP will give it a try but I am hearing that they are on the news saying alot but people aren't seeing alot of results. Go figure.

That is great news! We are hopeing to be able to go out and fish some early next week if the wind will keep the oil pushed back for a few more days we might actually get to wet a hook.

I'm planin on goin saturday to. I'm goin to hook up to my sled tomora afternoon and bust that 470 off. My steerin is. A little stiff. Nothin a little wd40 won't cure. Were tryin to cast net some mullet and go back to the hill and have a fish fry. Also, cut a few swamp cabbage to.

Nothin like cabbage. Its the heart of a sable palm. U don't get much because u got to cut a lot of bitter off. A little bitter will spoil the whole pot. U start out with fryin some cut up bacon in your pot then adin the cabage and water salt and black pepper. U about have to be raised on it. To really like it. Most first tryers turn there nose up at it. Its a true cracker dish.
