My mother-in-law is visiting, and she just told a pretty good story. She grew up in a ranch family, with six older brothers and one younger sister. Their parents had a good-sized ranch, and besides the six boys, there was always a few hired hands around. The hay was stacked and fed by using horses, so it took a large crew to accomplish the tasks.

On one Thanksgiving the family and a couple hired hands were all seated at the table. A man that had done some painting on the ranch just happened to drive by that day. He was on a roaring drunk and stopped to say hello. He was invited to sit at the table, even though he was in a very sad state. The food was passed, and everyone was enjoying the meal. Never at a loss for words and being an astute observer, the drunk painter slurred, "Every time an elbow bends, a mouth flies open." :-)

Often at future family gatherings, someone would come up with that saying.

That's funny Soap. I remember when we were all kids and everyone in the family came to our house for Christmas. My mother had made several pumpkin pies along with some other kinds of pies and cakes. One night as we were all watching the old reel to reel home movies one of my cousins who was built like a shoelace kept going into the kitchen for snacks. The lights were out so nobody paid any attention to what was going on. As we finished up with the movies she came back into the room with an empty plate and asks,"who ate all the pumkin pie?". We turned and looked and her belly was swelled up like a milk fed pup. While we watched home movies she had eaten three whole pumpkin pies. Now whenever we get together someone will ask, "who ate all the pumpkin pie?".
