I defended the fact that the Judge accepted the plea bargain agreement offered by the prosecution because according to some I had talked to directly involved in the case said they did not believe they could get a conviction if it went to trial... They were lacking in evidence... Those directly involved said he probably would not have been charged/convicted- because the main witness was no longer available (dead) to testify...
If Judges continue to throw out- or get overturned on plea agreements- pretty soon no one will accept them and the courts, detectives and prosecutors dockets will be overburdened with cases... Which means a couple of you tightwads would have to dig deeper into the moth bit wallets to give taxes to Uncle Sam for more courts and courtrooms... :wink: :roll:
We will have to see how this affects further plea bargain agreement pleas down the road and whether more either refuse to plead- or the prosecutors decide to let them walk free for lack of evidence to guarantee a conviction if it goes to trial....
