OT- Looks like those Cold temps are headed our way too

The most snow we've had here in my lifetime I think-I've seen geese back as early as 1st week of March but it's going to be tough to find any open water by then. It was just over -20 this A'M but no wind yet. It's funny how much more cold cows can take if it's sunny-cloudy overcast just sucks the sap out of them. The days are starting to stretch out now it's almost light at 9'00 A'M.
 
The wind didn't stay down long...By the time I went to feed it was blowing about 30 mph and kept picking up...Only got to 3 Above today with chill factors around 20-30 Below---Temp is 1 Below now and supposed to dive down in the 20-30 Below range tonite....

At least my daughter made it back from Lewistown last night where she had been working and said the roads weren't too bad-- only blowing and drifting between Lewistown and Robinson Bridge- which is always blowing and drifting :roll:

The forecast thru next week doesn't look too shiny with lows below 0...But the weather boys 30 day forecast was for an above normal February...

Colder than heck here the last three days. Yesterday was every bit as cold as today although it didn't snow today. High of only 2 above today with a bitter wind. Got about six inches of snow but now the flats are bare but the ditches are full!
 
Darn weather guys were right this time- whole river bottom sunk in 20 Below temps...Sad thing is that 100 miles west and its 10-20 Above... :shock:

Luckily, since we are a lot closer to the equator than you are, it is only 18 below here at the moment. :wink:
 
Darn-it you guys are making me seriously cold it is 0 here and is bad enough..... :roll: :wink: Think some really warm thoughts maybe we can raise the temps.... :wink:
 
We are a stunning 4 degrees right now but the wind... 22 mph gusting to 32 is what the weather is saying... Looking outside it doesn't look like it but dang. Take a step outside and it is COLD..
 
It -20 here right now it was warmer at 5 a.m when I went out and filled the stove -19 Brrrrrrrrrrrrr.And to think I used to calve this early idiot :roll:
 
It was -46 here this morning damn I hate living so close to the north pole....... :shock: :roll: :wink: Just goutside and instantly your face feels like its froze. Hard on cattle, people and machinery.
 
I must live in the banana belt. We got "real cold" here, all the way down to -16 C thats about 5-10 F
right now the sun is about as bright as it can get and the bit of snow we got is starting to melt.

Rub it in may mother nature bless you with deep freeze temperatures......lol just kidding!! We are in for another damn cold night tonite. Its already -35 here and that doesnt include windchill. :(

Heat wave hit this morning Denny...Was 6 Below when I went to bed-- was 1 Above at 6AM...We're sitting right on the edge of the arctic front- west of us 100 miles and its 20 ABove- east 100 miles and its 20 Below...

Wish it would just all move east- but don't sound like its going to happen for awhile.....
 
The West wind kicked in during the night and it is just below freezing. Not too bad except for the heifers that stood tight to the wind fence...they are covered in snow. They would have been better to stand 20 feet out farther on the straw where no snow landed.

Not much snow made it in the inner corrals should be bare by nighttime.

I can't even imagine 35 below....well I can but don't want to.

Are you sure you live in Alta.? :P -25 here this morn and YES I live in Alta.
 
Its -32 here right now but there is no wind, the sun is trying to shine and its kinda nice out. Makes a big difference when that wind isnt blowing.
 
I gotta dead Skid steer and a dead tractor right now... Skid is trying ot turn over but it just can't and tractors oil heater is shorting out for some reason... Time to build the tent and fire up the nipco... At least the big tractor fired up so I got the distillers and stuff fed... Pain in the arse... Weathe station keeps saying we at 6 degrees but thermos all around here still have us -2..

Cold weather is so much fun :shock: :lol: :lol: Monday I had a hydraulic hose on the Besler rupture in the cold and hydraulic fluid everywhere before I realized it :roll: Luckily I could get the replacement hose made up pretty fast and got the cows fed by 11AM...

Sounds like we have about a week more of this arctic stuff-- warmer next few days and then back into the 20 Below range on Thursday/Friday -supposed to haul a couple stocktrailer loads of replacement quality heifers to sale Thursday morning for the neighbor....Think he has 60 heifers he's selling so maybe if he has enough help I'll only have to haul one load....

But the long range says that about the 10th this arctic air will move out and we should get some warm pacific air-- might get snow, but at least they're saying temps above zero with highs in the 30's......
