I went over to my brothers tonight to get some used oil. I went to the house after helping myself. There was blood all over in his mud room. He has cancer and has been doing chemo he was in his shop office and took a drink of ice tea and it went down the wrong pipe and he had a coughing fit. Ended up droping the glass which broke then he passed out and fell face first on the broken glass. He cut his cheek and head up quite bad he had just got home from the hospital.I think he said he had over 50 stitches.Told him good thing he's ugly those scars won't bother much.

Oh he's plenty tough.I guess he bled like a stuck hog said he woke up in a pool of blood.I'm sure our dad will give him the health talk we get it every other day from our Dad.

That's rough, Denny. Hope your brother gets ok. Sound like a cut cheek is the minor part. It would be hard for your dad to watch his son go through all that. Prayers your way..........

When I opened this post the ad at the top was to prevent scar formation. You might give your brother a referal.

Denny, I hope your brother mends OK. I realize that he choked on the tea, but it might not hurt for his dr to review his all of the meds he is taking just in case. Sometimes meds interact with each other with bad results. Chemo itself is nasty stuff. If a med is causing nausea, that might cause coughing/gagging/choking or make a person more prone to it.

I can relate somewhat to your brother's experience. Last spring I was taking generic digoxin (Digitek) which turned out to be defective. It was nasty stuff. They recalled it after I had already taken it for 3 weeks.

I was getting a cup of coffee when I started a coughing fit, and not from drinking the coffee. Looking back, I blame the defective medicine. I passed out and fell on the linoleum dining room floor. I bruise easily because I take blood thinner. Fortunately the cup didn't break and the contents spilled away from me. When I came to I only had spilled coffee and a little blood to clean up. I didn't get cut too bad but certainly bruised my face and my knee where I hit the floor. It certainly would have been worse if it happened outside. I don't know how long I was out.

FH, the stupid thing about the whole deal was generic digoxin made by this same manufacturer had been recalled for the same reasons the previous year. It was deja vu with the same mistake all over again. A person would think they would have been more careful after the first episode which actually contributed to the deaths of some people nationwide.

In the first instance, I had only taken a few days worth of the recalled pills and had no bad effects. The second time it happened I had almost used up the whole bottle before my insurance co and the pharmacy notified me.

I'm still on the generic drug made by a different supplier. Other people I know who take this drug change over to the name brand Lanoxin.
