It looks like Tom Bullick and a couple others have been banned from showing at Agribition for 3 years:

Now the Canadian Charolais Assn. should step up to the plate and ban them from showing at all for the same time frame.

I loathe showing. I say a lifetime ban was in order. I agree the the Charolais Association now needs to step up to the plate.

The show biz needs a good fumigating.

Why? according to that article, there was "no definitive conclusion on the cause of death"

why should breed assoc's decide on who shows and who doesn't and where they can show? Somehow I don't think they really want to bring that much attention on themselves! :shock:

I know the CCA is actively looking at their show guidelines, which for the last 40+ years have been more than adequate, and there will be some changes. They can't do much if it is not an officially sanctioned show. I think the punishment was fair, particularly in light of the lack of conclusive veterinary evidence. My personal opinion on the matter is somewhat different...

people who show are like used car sales men...they will buff pamper, fluff and cover up what ever it takkes to make the deal. they are snake oil salesmen....

I would rather buy a bull from a guy who takes you out and lets you see them in the mud, than buy on the "idea" of a fluffy critter in the show ring.

we have big time operators here, who show nationaly. the jr high and high school kids compete against them at the county fair. if a kid is taking his cattle all over creation, he ought to be banned from the county fair. or enter in the professional division. besides, his parents and hired men do most of the training.

Altho I don't believe in a lot of the tactics and techniques used by the show crowd-nor the whole show game - I doubt if there will be any serious rules changes in these major shows...Tough boat to rock with so much BIG BUCK$ involved...

I watched a "show type" cattle sale on Superior the other day-- and there were coming yearling "show prospect" heifers selling for $15,000 and $20,000....
