momma went to lovin' the calf right away, but wasn't completely sold on the idea of the calf sucking. so i moved them into the barn for awhile. it didn't take long, and the calf had a mouth full.

one of my favorites out of the heifers. she is out of a Dateline cow, that i would call probably one of my best cows. i hope she has heifer calves until the day she dies.

a yearling heifer. she would be a half sister to the heifer pictured above. she should be a good one.

bred heifer that should make a decent cow, providing she gets a passing grade this year.

these yearling heifers are sired by a Pharo hereford bull. i bought 6 of them as sort of an experiement to see what kind of cows they will turn into. i'm not a huge Kit Pharo fan, but i do think he has some good ideas. i will say this....they are some easy keepin girls with a great dipsostion. they are off to a good start.

thats all for now, i better go check heifers...... :D

I sure dont envy you having 79 more to go! The cows look fine and sure are my type of bovines. Glad the weather has moderated for ya. Holler if ya need some help! I'll send Mrs. H your way muy pronto! :D

Our first heifer calved this morning also, due date is the 3rd of April. Had to help it suck but it is pretty strong for being 19 days early. 66 to go.

You must have had a fair bit of snow by the look of the snow on the bale stack. At least the frozen twine issue should be getting better now. Hope you have a good calving run.

It would only take about 1 inch of South Dakota snow to pile up like that on the stacks.

It comes off of 10,000 acres
