My first appearance on Ranchers.net was in 2001. I then tried to bring some knowledge and history of the cattle industry that is being controlled by the multi-national packers, and what we as cattle producers, could do to stop this slide into becoming no more than employes for them.
Does it really surprise any of you that Rancher's Beef is now insolvent? How many of you producers, have ever been in the meat packing business? I have, and i've tried to explain to you that the last thing, we as producers want to do, is own brick and mortar. The multi-national corporations love those that try. The theory of producers owning meat packing plants has been around for years and everyone that has started has failed.
Those of you that have grabed onto the concept of R-Calf, and other organizations like them, have also failed in the past and will in the future. Governments are not interested in governing the multi-national corporations. That theroy has also failed everytime in the past.
Until, the cattle producers, of the United States and Canada decide to organize and work together, to take back the control of our cattle industry, we will only continue on that down hill slide.
Best Regards
