Well we are back from our San Antonio trip with the FFA kids. We had a great time. I took quite a few pictures that didnt turn out. The lil camera I borrowed isn't like my old one LOL. I don't know if it's me, or the camera, but most of the inside pictures at the show didn't turn out worth a flip. They got blue ribbons on both projects but didn't place for prizes. That's ok, always seems like they do better in Houston than they do at San Antonio. Don't know why, they are competin against most of the same projects....just different judges. So we'll see how Houston goes in a couple weeks....they are gonna take the projects back into the shop and do some touch ups and a few changes, that the judges pointed out that could be better. LOL Like the finish on the trailer floor, it's just treated lumber....no special finish. And then there were a couple places on the feeder that need a lil more attention on it's finish. But technically, as far as usability goes, them cows won't care if there's a small flaw in the paint job on it, and the floor of the trailer, well it's a "use" trailer. They did great work on both projects. We are proud of them all.

Unloading (this is the only decent picture I got of the boy's trailer.)

This is the old well that's out in the courtyard of the Alamo. I thought it'd look cool in Black n White.

We took the kids out to eat at a Steak house called "The Little Red Barn" it's HUGE, and they serve over 1000 steaks a day. It was packed too.

Kinda rustic lookin, aint it? That recliner looks well used.

Wonderful pictures- the Alamo is beautiful from any angle. Glad you had a really good time, Lily. You probably needed it.

No we didn't take the kids anywhere but the Alamo. They were gonna go thru Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum thing, but when they got across the street, and seen the ticket prices....$20 a head......they decided they would save their money LOL

I've been to the Riverwalk, and done the boat tour. It's really pretty down in there. That Canal was built for the Worlds Fair in 1968.

Thanks the pics Lilly,

I'm headed to Corpus in a month to Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association convention to peddle my book at the Land and Livestock Post booth -- and taking Lane (my son, 14) with me ...boy needs to get across the cattle guard once in a while. We are headed to San Antonio first, on the way, so he can see the sites, one of them being the Alamo...I'll keep the little Red Barn in mind for dinner.... he'd like that.

It's about 3 hours. Not a bad drive at all, and it's thru some of the perdiest country in Texas. Some neat lil ole towns along the way. Makes the trip go fast, but also makes me wanna stop and site see along the way too. LOL I could take a week, and make that trip just stoppin all along the way to see stuff.

Somethin else I'd like to do when in San Antonio is take the tour of the five spanish missions.
Mission San Antonio de Valero - The Alamo
