Well, this was a five day weekend for me, no school thursday friday, or today.

Wednesday we skipped class and went to zone 43 for the chronic wasting zone. In Welding first class I got second degree burns on my left hand. I shot a fawn. That's the good part. The bad part was aI had to drag it uphill for a couple hundred yards, twisted my ankle, and cut my other hand.
Thursday I was so tired and sick and sore that I didn't enjoy myself hunting at all. I missed two easy shots at a deer, and three coyotes, so I got frustrated, put my gear in the truck and went to sleep.

Friday we went to Agribition. Me and my brother got extremely lost, and my ankle was acting up. Got my phone stolen.

Saturday We saw exactly one deer. And it was a doe. No biggie. I had a date saturday night. I drove her to a party in my car, and she left with some other guy, so I went with a few buddies in my friend's new truck ('06 Chevy with a 6 litre) to see what it could do. We went into a flat field, inspected the whole thing for hills, rocks and V ditches. We came across the field at, from my last glance of the spedometer, 140km/h. The Fenceline was coming up.. The brakes didn't grab. We hit a rock the size of the front end of my car, Truck in the air for 56 feet.. the passenger side touched down at 24, and the driverside finally touched at 56. Front diff, A frame, rim, and the whole frame and box mounts are totally wrecked. Now I wear my seatbelt everywhere.

Sunday was mom's birthday, I was still shaken up from the night before. After her party and she went to bed, I went out. I was driving with a girl that was so close, that she was like my sister.. The girl I liked (not the one that left with another guy) seen us driving through town and she called.. Summarized, I am an arrogant prick that will back stab or tear the heart out of anything that has a pulse. Note to self, do not ever talk to that one again.

Today I went hunting with a friend. We took my car. If we'd shoot anything we were gonna strap it onto my trunk. We hit a patch of ice and got stuck. Walked three miles for help. Got out in time to get the last hour of hunting. Fifteen kilometers later, threr went my transmission. I called ross and he pulled me the 50km back into town.

Fuel for hunting-$30
Fuel for women-$20
Written off truck-$20,000
New Transmission-$600
Ammo-$10
Learning how valuable every second is, how life has it's up's and downs and how appreciative we must be towards the friends that help us through those rough spots-Priceless.

Like an old neighbor told me in my teenage days..... You live long enough son, you just might grow up!

Hopefully you learned the valuable lesson to NEVER put yourself in someone else's hands when there is a party going on.
Glad to know you are ok, learn from it.

He was completelt sober, he just got back home from the city and stopped by to take me for a ride.. It was a lack of brakes, too much stupidity, and not enough attention..

Count your blessings you are NOT my kid. Severe child abuse would have been your fate. You think you are banged up now? HA!

Better stay home for a while and concentrate on making smarter friends.

About the only thing you didn't manage was to self inflict a gunshot wound to your carcass.

Partying doesn't nessessarily always involve booze. I was young and wild once too, more than I care to admit.
Young guys nearly always want to show others what their new vehicle will do.
Let them, and live to talk about it.
My closest friend when I was a teenager killed himself in a pickup trying to make a bad corner faster than another guy had. That incident probably had a lot to do with my first vehicle lasting me 3 years and finally dying from exaustion, not accident.
Slow down, think, and live.

Dad really tied into me, but didn't really punish me.. I already learned my lesson.. all the rest of the friends made up some completely different story about a pothole in the road.. I just showed dad the truck and the rock we hit.. He put two and two together. Later the driver's parents called dad and told him that he fessed up about what really happened, and Dad told them I did right from the start. His friend did the same thing with him but on a smaller scale in his S-10 in their graduating year.

Honesty is the best policy.

And my friends are all good headed, we all make stupid mistakes. Some are just worse than others.

My son - you grew up in the country and did not show any of the common sense you are supposed to have.

In my part of the world you would have received a great and plentiful @ss kicking.

Be glad you are all OK - now spend the money - fix the vehicle and learn from it

Alex,Alex ALEX....how in the heck can I come to your grad if your not around....GRRRRRR be more careful..or get your butt to Alta. and I'll be parenting you and I won't be so lenient..... :P

Seriously BE more AWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!

make sure you wash your hair after you get your head out of your butt.

hearing stories like that always irritates me. yep, I have been there and done that. but there are 3 less people who should have graduated from my high school due to the B.S. you are talking about.

my kids are at the driving age now, and buddies always talk of the old days.....ask if my kids will do half what I did.....they better be smarter than me..... I watched 3 sets of parents age 50 yearrs over night.

nothing worse than a teenager with some liquid courage in his system

OK, speaking as a kind old grandma who worries about EVERYONE ALL THE TIME..... enough ragging on the kid! He handled his foolishnesss honestly and rather well and acted responsibly after he realized how foolish he was. Can we 'elders' do any better?

I would suggest he and his friends talk about it a lot to others, in any age group, as an example of stupidity of the moment and how truly blessed they all are to have suffered only monetary damage, with maybe a healthy dose of fear.

The problems with girls will take a few years and some better discernment as to whom to choose as friends or possible 'girl friends' to solve! Think of the sort of person you want to marry and search out the ones with the self respect and honesty you want then, even if you don't intend to marry for a few years. A romance interest really should and could be a friend. If it goes nowhere beyone friendship, what have you lost, after all???
