Roads Central Alberta?

Came home from an EG&S meeting last night at 11. The highway south of Kitscoty and 619 from Kitscoty Hwy to Hwy 41 was fine...

What are the highways like west and south of LLoyd-they are terrible up here right now.

I heard this morning that it was snowing pretty good and the wind is howling. Hubby is on his way to Fox Creek ,talked to him at noon and it was still clear just north of Edmonton. I sure wouldn't want to be travelling today ,all of Alberta is supposed to get the storm.

Cool but nice here right now. They are talking 15cm, which means we might wind up on a -40 horse ride, bringing cows in off grass...Yikes.

I hope it runs out of steam before it gets down here. My main herd is doing a great job in pretty tough conditions but the conditions don't need to be worsened. One little fresh pen of grass left besides the worked over windrows before they get to come home.

I would have loved to leave my replacements out longer as well, but with the snow and melt ,then freeze etc. we are to hilly for them to travel the icy north sides. Can't risk a fall so they are in now and being fed.

Bloody Alberta weather ..We live here why ??? Oh ya,, no big snakes, spiders and gators ... :P

Anyone planning to travel it is supposed to be worse tomorrow as you head south.

I don't know how y'all do it. We can shoot the snakes, swat the spiders an we don't have many gators but they are real tasty 8)

Came home from Lloyd tonight and I can honestly say that the roads South and West of Lloyd are officially crappy. At least the few sections where we could see the road, were crappy. The rest did not seem to exist...

A little way south of Viking NR and the weather is snow, drifting, blowing snow from the north fairly warm -7C and slippery. Pretty nice in the house though. :-)

To not have nasty spiders and snakes and alligators a few months of this is worth it. I would like to try some alligator though.

We postponed our games better safe then sorry.

Glad to hear that NR .. :)
I am going out to feed and that is as far as I will be venturing today.. It is crappy out there, the wind has stopped blowing a bit, but that is supposed to change any minute .

I hear ya about the trade off. I just wish I loved winter as much as I did when I was a kid, maybe because then I got to skate and ski without the shovelling, plowing and the cows .. :???: :P

Per , I had Gator in Dallas once. It was OK ,kinda tasted ,like chicken ..

Full blown blizzard going on here. Went to rescue 3 trucks a mile down the road but changed my mind in about 50 feet past my yard. They are camping out now in a house that is for sale but empty. Power has been off for a while and just came back on. Then another truck went by, two minutes later another call. I went to rescue him because he was only a couple hundred yards down the road. I hope everyone else has the sense to hole up.

Batten down the hatches. :D

I don't mind if people need a place to sit out the storm as I have done that myself a few times but we live on a lonely stretch of road and have had to help some out fits out of the ditch and such. The Hiways Dept says I could be in trouble because I use colored diesel in my tractor and that's not farm work and being a good sam wouldn't help if an accident occurred while helping as I could be held liable. NOW if they need help on the road we call Hiways.

I know the risk but for sure will do something to help out it I can. We will leave the lights on and the house unlocked tonight.
