I'm gettin a new one soon. A cortillo. Mexican made, identical to a corrienta but with bars built to fit a mexican pony, simular to a fla cracker horse. Anyway, I sent this man a pic of the horse to see if it did favor a mexican horse and he said it did and he idenified the old ropein saddle I have rode for years. Its a s d myers, called a duck bill. I thought, this man really knows his old saddles. I sent him a pic of my first, surenuff ranch saddle. I got it used when I was 16 and it was old then. Had it refleased a year later. I rode it till about five more years till I out grew it. it has no toolin or makers mark on it nowhere. The finders are just shy of 1/4 inch thick. Its got a fatlighterd, rawhide rapped tree. Solid brass d's on a double riggin. He's said it was a king ranch. Built about 1875. I've kept it in the house fore years but let trey ride it once, for about 5 mins.

It just shows u how well build and the quality they were. It must have been well took care of before I got it. Me and my son were lookin at it one time and found where I had branded my inicials in it long ago. I'm almost 53, I was 16 then. If only it could talk.
