This namesake of Katrina looks like a real b*tch---I was just watching the news-- They say this thing could be a real catastrophe-- is now a Category 5....Macon, Alabama and Mike better be looking for high ground....

They say that if the winds stay as high as they are now that the whole south could be out of power for months :( .......

East Winds are starting to blow now at about 20 MPH. Rain showers starting in South Alabama on the gulf coast at this time. Clouds are starting to come in from the south.

We have been trying to get in some Sudan-Sorghum hay since Thurs. with one break down after another. Should be finished this afternoon.

Looks like the house will be full again same as the last two hurricanes this year. I just hope they bring their own "Cool Refreshments" again.

Most gas stations are out of gas today, and might not get any tomorrow if storm hits early A.M. All motels are full. Spin-off tornadoes are the scary part.

Look out Robertmac! I don't wish any harm on you but I sure hope this thing continues due north. If it takes the anticipated jog east, it won't be fun for us.

Amazing reporting on New Orleans and the people stuck there and also those leaving LA...

Yea, been watching that too! Looks as though they are gonna be filming a "Tarzan" movie in the Superdome.

Started raining here just before dark. Wind has died a little. Looking to wake up to strong winds and rain in the morning.

Take care ROBERTMAC!

If you want to read something really scarey, try and find a copy of the National Geographic magazine from October 2004. There's and article in it about the loss of wetlands in Louisiana, and it tells of a scenario of a hurricaine hitting New Orleans that is positively horrifically accurate. Everything they say in the article, as of this morning, has come to pass exactly as they say it. Right down to how many people leave town, and how many stay behind. It tells of how the worst case scenario would be a Cat 5 dead on hit, and also tells of the flooding that would happen.

I just hope the rest of the day doesn't play out like it does in their story! It ain't pretty, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

This is pretty frightening stuff, but just imagine what would have happened if no one had the warnings they have had.

I see where the Police in New Orleans are already having to take their time away from search and rescue and cope with looters :? :( -- In situations like this they should be able to issue a shoot on sight order .......
