We are OK Randi , thanks , we are not that close to the Red Deer River .

Some friends of ours who have a dairy farm near Sundre have been evacuated and have had to find a place for their dairy cows , they found a place higher up at a neighboring dairy operation to move the milking herd and calves , and they were able to kick the dry cows and young stock out to higher pasture . Also a closed farrow to finish operation that we are acquaintances with have had to evacuate their barns too. Haven't spoken to them since so do not know how they made out but she was in tears when I spoke to her on Friday .

I hope Per and his family are all safe as well as all that are in the flood path .

God please keep everyone safe that is effected by this devastation ,so we can all join together once this dissipates and rebuild what this torrential flooding has taken/destroyed .

Per sent me a reply at 4:20 this morning to a query I sent last night.

"Big communications problems. Evacuated all of High River using big manure spreaders, combines and helicopters. Mom and dad we finally found and are safe at my sisters. Helped at the shelter at the next town. Heading for bed."

And another ar 4:38 AM

"No land line or internet working either"

raining heavy here right now, the city is getting it worse. Daughter and Fiance' were evacuated around midnight, son is being called all over the city but can't get to most of them.it's a mess for sure. haven't heard anything from Per but with the state in High River i'm sure his boat is full. stay safe all

Haven't heard much about Nanton other than their rec center is full of evacuee's from High River. don't think they have had the rain as bad as we have. sorry can't be of more help

Talked to the daughter in Sylvan Lake. Her friend with a restoration company in Red Deer is going to Lethbridge to help clean up and if they don't flood in Red Deer will help out the company in Calgary when they can get in to clean up. The company head office from Florida is sending a semi load of cleaning equipment to help out.

I heard 260,000 people couldn't go to work today in Calgary.

We`re 8 miles southwest of High River & mostly high ground here so stock is OK. Was raining hard`n`steady for 24 hours here & showers for the past 12 hours. Town is a total disaster.....many friends in town who are completely flooded. 3 -4 ft of water in downtown & pretty much the same in residential areas. Will take some time to recover from this one. May get worse with more rainfall coming down from the mountains. Heard late this afternoon that 2 bodies have been recovered in town & maybe two more missing. Just got phone service back an hour ago after almost 24 hrs, power was out for about 5 hours.

Woo hoo, internet is back and a bit better cell service. No land line though. My parents are fine but the town is a total disaster. All the schools and two of the three machinery dealers are flooded. Spend yesterday after the funeral of one of my good friends helping folks at the main evacuation center in the first town to the east of High River, Blackie, while I waited to hear of news from my parents. My sister hung out in the muster area in High River making sure we had all our basis covered. Communications were mostly word of mouth and we coordinated our locations by getting people we knew were going by to stop and give a message. While I waited at Blackie I had the privilege to help folks off the busses and to a chair or mat or sandwich table or what ever. Some one showed up with hundreds of pillows and blankets that a store donated and the red cross made it at 2 am with cots and blankets as well. My son hauled and set up cots until 3 when we went home. With no cell service it caused distress finding relatives and friends. Some texts made it through and a few miles north the cell service was slightly better so many folks required rides to the "hot" zones. We had the privilege to lend a couple of vehicles to those that are separated from both their homes and cars. Cooked several dozens of eggs this morning with a bunch of other farmers and ranchers doing eggs, pancakes and toast. Spent the rest of the day turning bulls out. Thanks for the concern.

Glad to hear from you and that things are as good as can be expected considering conditions.

One question, Did you put Water Wings on the bulls when you turned them out?

Thanks for the report. We were hoping you and yours were okay.
Sure sorry to hear about all the people that lost lives and/or property.
