What conf. is Georgia Southern in? Are they the next team on the SEC expansion list? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAAAAAA!!!

Florida can beat Tenn., Kentucky, and Ark. but not Ga. Someplace? Georgia SomethingSouth beats them worse than Georgia and S. Carolina? If the mighty Eagles were in the SEC, would they be in the top 4?

The 2007 Appalachian State vs. Michigan football game was a regular season college football game between the Appalachian State Mountaineers and Michigan Wolverines. The game was held at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on September 1, 2007, and was the first game of the season for both teams. Is it really an upset to beat a team that is now 4-7 regardless of the name of the conference and those wins came against teams with losing records?

Amazed me that Georgia Southern never completed a pass. All Wishbone Formation running plays. :lol: :lol:

But like I said Florida has had 10 starters out for the season for several games now.
 
It is a problem for ESPN and the SEC who really needs the SEC placed on a pedestal. It just cracked a few more mirrors of the smoke and mirror show.

I guess all 10 players were hurt in practice since they went into South Carolina ranked 10th in the nation and played them within 5?

Oh, and Mizzou is currently in the drivers seat to play in the championship- a big 12 transfer. But, hey, if you put a SEC emblem on them, it automatically makes them good right? And ATM beating the SEC darling the first year?

Remember when the SEC had so many in the top 25 to begin the year. Where was Florida- 12th? :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: Surely that false ranking business doesn't have an effect on keeping others overly inflated does it? :lol: :lol: :lol:

I find myself wondering where Mizzou would be ranked if they were a Big 12 team..... I think the SEC bias has them right up there.... they would still be a "pretender" if they were in the Big 12 according to ESPN....

As I said earlier, the worst thing about being in the SEC is having to play each other. Hard for anyone to go thru the conference undefeated or at least beat up.

Now tell me about the Big Boys of the Big 12. Think Baylor will hang 50 on Texas?? Or will TT do it first??
 
No doubt about it. Mizzou and ATM both would be right at the top in the Big 12 were they still there. Them and OK State would be in a battle.
 
BUT would ESPN give them as much credit, being in the Big 12, and not in the SEC ? I doubt it very much....SEC bias.

Both would be undefeated in the Big 12 and ranked even higher. What impresses me more than anything and regardless of the conference they represent is how Auburn and Missouri have turned their program around in one year. Both are for real !!!!! A good chance Auburn will take out 'bama this week.

The big 12 has "parity"....but it's parity at a mid-level. A couple of good teams but nothing really exceptional about any of the teams.

I would agree. texas and OU get ranked due to "tradition" but they seem to flop as of late. KSU looks to fill a few holes on D next year, and I expect them to bounce back to the top of the Big 12...... but Okie lite seems to be on a tear right now....WV and TCU have not lived up to the expectations since joining..... Mizzou is impressive this year. and I look for aTm to be even better with out Johnny.....too much of a distraction...TEAM is better than an individual
 
OSU has looked really good against TU and Baylor and I loved both games. :wink: Looks like OU finally put the best young man in at QB last week as they finally showed some offense. Texas has talent out the gazoo on paper but just hasn't performed. Really need help at QB. TT just needs another year and TCU needs a QB that can run their offense. If each can meet these needs we'll see some really good football from all of them.
 
I love watching Kansas State take kids that Texas passed on, and beat Texas with them..... makes my heart jump with joy.

Mack Brown should have 9 titles with the amount of talent he has had over the years...pathetic to see him piss it away.

Auburn/Alabama- you can throw stats out the window. Auburn hasn't just killed people but they have found ways to win and in the end that is what matters. I'm pulling for them because the Alabama fluff is getting old, and I just like ag schools.

OU/OSU- I like the home field, but OU has started to find an offensive identity at the end of the year. If they actually felt a little confidence, they could be dangerous.

Mack just doesn't have it. I think he may genuinely care about the kids and you don't hear a lot of bad about him, but Texas isn't a team with respect anymore. I hope they keep him.

The Big 12 is down, it could have recovered from the Nebraska loss, Colorado leaving actually almost cancelled it out. :D But losing ATM and Missouri and replacing them with TCU and WV may be it's down fall. I bet the conference will fold in the end, unless those programs can turn it around. But I just don't see who else they could add. It is the exchange of teams that has hurt the Big 12, but analysts just pay attention to OU and Texas. If they are down, everyone perceives the Big 12 as down. They are right at the moment, but not because of their reasoning. OU and Kstate are mid level teams that I think could surprise schools, Texas is just too questionable- I think they would fare better today against BYU than they did earlier, but they wouldn't beat Ol' Miss. WV is just not any good and they need a better head coach (he is a good offensive coordinator), TCU didn't have to play a full year's worth of real teams before the BIg 12, that makes a difference. There will be a learning curve for them. Kansas is horrid, I imagine they would like Mangino to come back and yell at a few thugs. I thought Iowa St may have been more of a force this year. But Baylor and OSU are good teams that I think could play in about any conference. OSU is markedly better now than they were just a few weeks ago and I think they would give anyone a game. But took too long to figure themselves out. There are too many unbeaten teams right now, so I don't think they should be considered one of the top 3. But I'd sure like to see them play someone other than Northern Illinois for the prize of winning the conference. I mean, can the bowl selection be any more screwed up? Congratulations, you get a team that if you win will mean nothing, and you will likely be judged for not winning good enough. But if you lose, you are toast in the columns.

I'm not as surprised at Mizzou. They had some internal trouble last year that took a lot out of them, I just can't recall for the life of me what I had heard. I think had they entered the SEC the year prior or this year, they would have had a better first year showing. I think they will be competitive for quite some time.

ATM needs a defense. They used to be known for their defense. They have scored enough points to win games, they just couldn't hold anyone.

I think Mike has said before that the polls shouldn't start until several weeks into the season, and I agree. But I also wish they took the winner from each conference and had a playoff. It would make polls irrelevant for the big dance. After that, who cares about fighting over consolation prizes.


This Florida St deal is weird, I don't know much about it. But why are they bringing charges against the kid now, when they sat on it for so long? It puts a lot of questions in my mind.

Any of you guys followed it?
 
the Fla State deal is simple......you can only afford do much "hush money" and the report of his sexual encounter got spread around too far... now they have to do something... young kid, big ego, national stage....my guess is he is guilty of SOMETHING, but not sure what.....

Yessir....TCU has done a lot of that as well. Nothing but rejects who love to play football and knock you outta your jock.
 
IWANNA.....As long as the Big 12 continues to allow TU to dominate and pontificate to the other members it will never flourish. Big bucks for the Longhorn Network (ESPN) and now you can get it as a freebie with other sports pkgs. because nobody wants it.

Offense wins a lot of games but defense wins championships. We'll see. Best to all. :wink:

Mike Slive, the SEC Commissioner, and the one who came up with the BCS and current playoff plan, has been fighting for a Conference winner playoff deal for a while, but the independents, Notre Dame, etc., are the one stopping it.

A rotation of conference champions would be the way to the best scenario I know of. That's what he wants regardless of the polls.

If you think about it, the BCS poll now pretty much takes the press out of the equation as it is now, dropping the A/P out of the equation, with the Harris 1/3, the Computer 1/3, and the Coaches 1/3.

The only real say so that ESPN has now are the smaller bowls in which they mostly own exclusively. And they're a cash cow.. They have to bid for the NC game.

Contrary to what Jiggsy espouses, that's why Nebraska left. TO saw the writing on the wall before anybody else....and he wasn't gonna lay down for Texas.
