Did you think about using some stamped tin? http://www.customtinworks.com/New/NewPress.htm
Cal said:Pig Farmer is right. Stick with custom made and installed cabinets. You may find that they're even less money than the manufactured stuff. My wife found (on ebay) some antique lead glass from an old motel being torn down, and had it incorporated into the china cupboard, above one of the doors, and in a cabinet in her bathroom. You're only limited by your imagination.

Not sure if the poured countertops were worth it. Maybe they were. Pella windows were a ripoff, IMO. The Jacuzzi hardly gets used after the new wore off.

Whats wrong with the Pella?
PF I had already heard that about the sheet rock. Going to make sure that it is not from China.
Cal LOVE those cabinets.I am looking at Craft Maid cabinets, semi custom made ones.
Pig Farmer, Moved some photos around and added some new ones (page 2) didn't turn out so hot. The guy standing on the stairs isn't me......a good friend that could be/acts like Mike Rowe's (?) twin brother(the guy that hosts Dirty Jobs) Click on the link.Pig Farmer said:Cal said:Pig Farmer is right. I agree on the windows you are paying for a name with a compromised product. Good looking cabinets as well as the trim around the door. The step up and outs do so much for the character of a kitchen.
Cal what is the height of your kitchen? Sure would like to see the rest of! it.
The Pella windows seem drafty if you have a good wind, and you can feel quite a bit of cold around them when it's real cold outside, especially the sliders. We put some cheap Jeldwin vinyl windows in a rental house, and they actually move better and seem more air tight than the Pella's. I don't know what windows we should have used in our house, because we didn't research well enough and bought the Pella BS, hook, line, and sinker. Look at those big, odd shaped windows in my pictures at the high part of the wall. They're double payne, gas filled, and had to be replaced under warranty because they seperated.Faster horses said:I really like those cabinets, too, Cal. They are different and that
leaded glass really makes them a stand out.
I'm curious about your remark about Pella windows too.
And what are your thoughts on Anderson windows?
What windows would you get if you could do it over?
Thanks! The Airedale found something really rotten to roll in today, would gladly send her your way.Faster horses said:Beautiful home, Cal. I really like the cabinets; love the ceiling (like WOW)
but I think that dog is SPECIAL.
Did you say he is Airdale, or Airdale cross? I WANT ONE!!
