just so WR doesn't feel left out, i decided i better post some snow pictures. :) it started snowing about 4am and hasn't let up. our winter storm warning expires at 6am Friday.

two year old pairs. we trailed them in last night so the wouldn't drift with the storm.

we trailed the heavy cows in last night also so i could keep an eye on them today and tonight.

some pairs that didn't get trailed out on Tuesday and Wednesday because of the 70mph winds.

So far the snow hasn't started to accumulate, it's been melting as it comes down. Most of this storm is south of us. we've had 2.45" in the last week. I still have about 10 acres of hay barley to finish seeding.

and here I thought I was the fool for calving end of Feb-early march when the ground was frozen and things were dry. I guess every dog has his day.

i'm not sure what you are implying?

Just when I was feeling sorry for myself you show us that. Yikes! (that was our day before yesterday. The sun almost came out today and it got up to freezing)

It has snowed here all last night and today, but hasn't stuck, yet.
If it had we've have probably had a foot of snow by now!!
Mother Nature can sure bring things to a halt, can't she?

Thanks for the pictures, Justin. What is your temperature?

98.6 i feel fine, little tired but thats about it.

:P :P we've been about 32-33 all day.

Yuck Justin, at least it shouldn't stay too long :? . It's actually sunny and breezy here this afternoon, but will only be 15 tonight... the grass just isn't getting the start I hoped  . Feed has turned into the new four letter word.

Hang in there, think of the good moisture you're getting out of it, and take full advantage of likely the last snowman/snow angel-making opportunity your kids will have for a while :D .

We're ALL ready for this winter to end!

Sure glad you don't have a fever, Justin. I thought sure you'd have
Spring Fever.

It's been 37 degrees here most of the day, guess that's why
our snow melted and yours stuck.

And WR, I couldn't agree with you more. This winter has
been one for the record books.

I had a deja vu moment when I looked at your pics ,our snow is gone from the other day but now we have mud mud mud.. uhggggggg  It is bloody cold here as well.

At least you could still see your cows Justin..

Stay warm and dry.

Snow  80 degrees here today I'm kinda new here I really enjoy the pic's and storys on here. Runnin cattle in these hills always dreamed of movein out west youall know how to discourage a guy

welcome aboard Will. :)

i am a model of what NOT to do. out here, ya take moisture any way you can get it. this storm really is not all that bad, at least we didn't get the wind the "experts" were predicting and the temp. isn't to bad either.i'm guessing we got 6-8 inches. i'm hoping the cows hold off the rest of the night, the barn is just about full. :?

And to think we did'nt have a lick of snow in march or april.Of course were about done calveing.

in the past, i've always started calving around the 20th of March. this year i backed off a month with the hopes of avoiding those April storms.  i don't need to tell you how that worked out. :x March and April would have been pretty good calving weather this year.

like i said, i'm a model of what NOT to do.

Were suppose to brand tomorrow I don't have to tell you how thats going to work out.The snow is suppose to be here today thru tomorrow.Should look like mud wrestleing. But at least it won't be dusty.

Well, you'll feel much better about your decision the next time you have a tough April, which seems to be a guarantee. This storm isn't going to last long. If I lived in your open country, there's no way I'd calve early.

Are you having trouble with pairs staying together like Big Swede mentioned? I still can't believe that happens :? .
