It's a balmy 79 degree F, down this way. Will check to see if my windrows are dry enough to turn, after this weekends drenching rain.

I'm somewhat fascinated by the heavy snows ya'll get up North and how you have to prepare for it all. Herds covered in snow, planning for enough feed to get through winter, what to do with your own time during the winter months, etc.

That part of bein snowed in.....would drive my crazy. Then the other part of it, havin to get out in it to do chores......oh well we all know I'm a wimp when it comes to cold weather haha.

10 inches of snow and 7 degrees this morning. At least it shut the weaned heifers up :wink: . Supposed to be back in the 50's by mid-week.

Left Sioux Falls about 5 p.m. and got as far as Mitchell when the front come through…. Rain, high winds….. Terrible winds and then snow when I turned to go to Hamill. Was blizzard like till I turned on 53 to go farther south… I was soooo glad to get home…

Behind the front...temperatures will continue to fall back into the 20s and 30s with north to northeast winds of 5 to 15 miles an hour. Fog will reduce visibilities down to less than one mile at times across portions of the panhandles. The thickest fog will be found near Dalhart...Dumas...Guymon...Borger...Amarillo and canyon. In addition...patchy snow flurries or light freezing drizzle will develop behind the front but limited accumulations are expected. However...roads may become slick and ice may develop on bridges and overpasses through the evening and overnight hours so motorists are urged to drive with caution tonight.

We got 2 inches of snow this morning. By 2 pm it was mostly gone. No harvesting again today Quite chilly this evening but it cleared off. The weaned calves looked pretty good at the bunk tonight and are eating and starting to fill out and rest some. More moisture coming next week according to the weather folks. Had to do some quick winterizing of pasture tank valves this evening since they are predicting 21 degrees by morning.

Gotta be close to 20 inches since thursday, and bitter a** cold :? . The calves which originally were to ship last wednesday, are still here, shrinking. Their mothers are looking pretty tough. Okay Richard, you know what they say about "paybacks"... :roll: :lol:. And to think I was planning to be on vacation by now :lol: .

You can't be too smart to do it, that's for sure!!! :lol: The calves have been rescheduled to ship thursday, so hopefully the weather will clear soon, and they'll have time to fill back up by then, I'm just hoping they can stay healthy. This weather isn't unheard of, but is atypical for this time of year.

It should all work out, just can't wait to get them on a truck . :lol: .

It's cold here, warming up today. Up to 22 already .
Not much snow though. Looked at the cows/calves yesterday
and they seem fine, but we know they can't be GAINING much
in this weather.

Ours go the 21st. Our best friends go tomorrow.

Dang you're cold down there gcreek, it was a balmy -19 here this morning No snow on the ground but the frost gives it a pretty white hue. I was noticing yesterday on the weather channel that normal for this time of year is +9 for a high. We've been off of that for a while now.
