Snowblowers

This response prolly doesn't count because I don't think they make 'em anymore. I have a 1970's double auger McKee 720 (6') I got 2nd hand that gets the job done. Doesn't cut quite as wide as the tractor.

A 100 HP tractor should be able to handle an 8' blower. Red Devils seemed popular around here at one time. I wouldn't be scared of one in good condtion at the right price. Don't know of any new blowers in the area.

BMR is right on about the hyd chute. Mine has a manual crank/cable thing to turn the chute. Don't want to lube it any more than absolutely necessary because the vibration will turn it where you don't want it.
 
Schulte is the brand to have in my opinion. They make good heavy equipment, not cheap though.

I've got a Fair Snowcrete blower. Would work but its a bit much for 100hp. A bit spendy but they will move a lot of snow. Had a dual auger Loftness 8' before this one. The Fair will move a lot more snow with the same power. I've got 130 hp on it.

I'm going to have to spend some time in it tomorrow morning to get the cattle fed. I've got to dig out another hay stack.
 
I had no idea that they even made a snow blower for a tractor...I don't know much about snow but one of the reasons I love this site, is learning how other folks live.

Thanks for all the replies. Still searching have looked at the the Fair blower but agree might be a bit much for the tractor and the checkbook.

And Justin if you kept your harding county wind to yourself wouldn't need to blow your snow away to the east of you..
 
If you've got by this long without a snowblower, the best bang for the buck might be to watch farm auctions this spring and summer and buy one in the off season.

I already had my blower when my uncle's Red Devil sold at his estate auction. It had barely been used and IIRC sold for $1400 which was about half price of new at the time. Snowblowers have really gone up in price over the years.

Good advise, I kept looking a auction a dealer adds for quite a while to find my Fair blower used. I bought it from a dealer in central South Dakota for less than half the price of new one. A year ago a new Fair 848A was over $12000.
