On the topic of how country and western differ, I submit artist like Marty Robbins as being a good example of western.
Since it is Sunday morning, I thought this one was best for starters.
Another good one, all western, no country to it.
Western was fading and country was taking over about the time Ed Bruce sang this one.
This is about the last of real country. The stuff they call new isn't country in my opinion. It use to be called Country & Western. They dropped the Western. Me, I dropped the newer country and just try to listen to Western.
Cord Lund is Western Swing which came before Western, but after Western Square Dance music. I like a lot of young artist that still honor the old styles. It isn't about a singers age, but what they sing about and how they structure the rhythm.I like Corb Lund and Ian Tyson and others more recent than Marty Robbin although I find nothing wrong with Marty.
Cody is really good and authentic country. I like this one.Been listening to Cody Jinks and Jamey Johnson a little even though I'm a classic vinyl/classic rock fan?

You are probably too young...you haven't been around like us oldtimers...I remember my Great Uncle using the phrase "Little Joe The Wrangler", but never new where it came from
or that there was a song with that title.
