Soapweed Snowed In?

There was a pretty fair snow this weekend in SW SD, and parts of Nebraska. I got about a half inch of snow here. If I read the map right, Soapweed received a bit more.

Dang that is ALOT of snow. hmmmm and I was complaining about it being 80 and going down to 65 tomorrow. brrrrrrrrrr hope everything is good with them.
 
Sounds like you could be in line for another one come about the weekend--anyway they think it will stay south of us, so that usually means the Miles City - Billings- South Dakota area...Weather boys say it could have a lot of moisture.....

I would just as soon it did- finally drying up around here a little bit, and getting rid of some of the ice- first calf came here at my place yesterday about a week early...Actually weather has been about perfect calving weather lows 15-25 highs 30-40--- little wind and just a few little snow squalls....

Was checking cows over at my partners place this morning- had 4 new ones there - But 5 big old bald eagles sitting out there in the middle of the cows....I know they're getting the afterbirths, but the size of them things still gives me the creepys with them little calves.......
 
We probably got seven or eight inches of snow. The ground is warm, so it kind of settled as it came. Some drifting occurred, so it was possible to get stuck if you drove into the wrong places. Quite a few calves had to be born in the barns yesterday and last night. Today the wind went down and it warmed up enough that calves could again be born outside. The moisture is very welcome, as conditions lately have been quite dry and dusty.

OT,

I've watched new mothers fighting off coyotes and ravens. Isn't pretty, and you have every right to get the creepys...

Yeah, you know...the same ones that say that wolves are not a problem in our area and that we are not allowed to defend our way of life against such "innocent" predators (wait....can you all say "oxymoron"?) :roll: Read in the Butte paper the other day that wolves (or something of the like) have been attacking the sheep in northern Montana...gee....go figure, huh? :? Been many a times that the hubby has had to watch and pray as a group of bald eagles "wander" around the calving mamas!! Not much fun...you never realize how big these birds can get til you see them circling a calf! :o

It started here Saturday night. So from then on until it warmed this afternoon the barn here was a busy place. Total I would say we got 10 inches of snow. The wind blew so drifting did occur. Some of the snow melted off today and the calving barn was empty except for the tiny calf that was in there.

We got about 5 inches of snow depends on which pile you measure. I was looking out the window Sunday, going I'm glad were not calving in this. Got a calf yesterday out of one of our new cows, wasn't to calve till the 21th close enough I guess.
