Ty was up at his first pro rodeos Mon/Tues.-we got up early I loaded up on Meds and we headed for Airdrie-it started off good there were a couple old bulls that Ty used to get on when he was 13/14-they kind of graduated to the pros together-was nice to see his old nemisis's. his horse was terrible-about as much fun as riding a bike without a seat. He was sitting 4th after riding the big wallowing plodder but he really wanted a reride. This morning started a day that I'm still having trouble getting my head around. Ty was up in Ponoka-Canada's biggest rodeo and the biggest for payout in Novice. I've always wanted to go to it but never could justify just going on a holiday. they'd been going for six days and this was the last day of Novice. Ty drew a snappy little red roan of Vold's-got his rein right and damned if he didn't win the whole deal-he got tapped off nice I counted 17 spur licks from the neck to the cantle during the eight seconds. I was watching through the camera as I videoed and I thought it looks pretty good but I never guessed he'd win. Dad got a bit of a lumpy throat so I went for a walk then I went to congratulate him. The announcers don't know him so he never got and build up but I think they might now. One old pro bronc rider made him take off his high school buckle and put his new one on-he said after today they'll know who you are buddy. No matter what nobody can take this perfect day away from Ty and I but it's hard to believe it happened-almost like our luck is to good to be true.

The good Lord was with him thats for sure. Thats Great!!!!! :cboy:

P.S. Is college in his future. I know a good one, we have one girl from Canada on the team now. Sam Houston State.

Funny how the harder you work and practice the luckier you are. Congratulations we are all pulling for you.

Congratulations to both of you. That is wonderful news. Just think, someday when Ty gets really famous, we can say we knew him when he was just a youngster. Ty, we are very proud of you. :-)

Aw heck, I think I got a little somethin' in my eye just reading that. I feel a lot like when my cousin won the novice at Calgary again last year..... dang proud!
Congrats to Ty, and congrats to you for making his win possible.

Oh now wouldn't that be just great!!!! Lil Lilly is goin to Sam and be on the rodeo team in the fall. Come on NR send Ty down, we'll take care of him.

And a HUGE congrats you Ty on his win, and to you too for all the support you give him along the way. I know the feelin....watchin thru the camera lense. That's bout the only way I ever see her runs.

Thanks everybody it was a pretty sweet deal for old Dad. Ponoka is by far the best rodeo I've ever been too-as big as Calgary but without a security guard every ten feet. Calgary is still great but Ponoka just feels more cowboy. The grand entry was incredible-the sponsor flags get run in by a bunch of girls and they do some pretty intricate stuff as hard as they can go-then they best part they run a semiload of bucking horses into the arena and ccircle the girls a couple times-there's a stagecoach chasing the whole deal too. Nothing prettier than a big bunch of broncs lining out. there were alot of Americans up the two rodeos we were at-Chet Johnson made a great ride on 'Mona Lisa Smile' in Airdrie-I love that mare. Will Lowe was awesome at both places I think he was leading both rodeos but the cowboy that impressed me was Jesse Bail-he might not be as fancy as some but that guy is a hand. As to the pic-what I do is video Ty's ride then just capture a frame from the video. College wise Ty has already signed his letter of intent to Montana State-of all the schools we visited and sent stuff too they seemed the most interested and sincere in having him-jersey lilly we can meet up at Caspar at the college finals hopefully some day.

There might have been a sprinkling of luck on that pony's rump, but I'd say that Ty rode that sucker! Looks like he was reaching for the front and putting it all on the line! That's awesome!

Ty thought he could of little better on her that cast on his free arm is kind of throwing him off-he whacked the pickup man in Airdrie pretty hard with it by accident. Silver are you related to the DeRose's or Delano Kjos-I'm pretty sure Delanano won the average in Ponoka this year.

GREAT--if Ty starts getting used to being on some of those good old honest broncs he won't even want to ever be on one of those second rate waspy wild horses again..
Sure more fun to ride a good one than a bad one....And those good ones are where the good money is.....
