Sorgum/sedan silage.

Has anyone cut sorgum/sedan grass for silage? We did and I'm wondering if anyone has had any problems with it. We feed ground hay with it.

If you made sedan silage I can see your cows getting hardware pretty easy.

I have no experience with either as they won't grow here.

"Sedan", as in vehicle/automobile.......built of hardware. Not good for cow feed. Metal.

Put up Sudan/Sorghum silage for many years when had a dairy. No problems to speak of. Just don't graze it after a frost.........

It is great feed. The one issue can be Nitrates if it was under drought conditions.

we ground up several old chevys'--lasted all winter, guess you could say we got very good mileage with this feed. cows did tend to rattle and kinda fall apart tho........

Be careful grinding up any old Mercury. That poisoning could be far worse than high nitrates.

True. But mixing them with a few old Corvettes would increase the "Fiber" content, thus diluting the "Mercury Poisoning" AND the "Hardware".
