Now USDA and NCBA have POed the backyard goat raisers and the little old ladies with their pet chickens   No wonder they are changing their tune....
I stole this from another website....

STOP the NAIS.....

The USDA plans to make every owner of even one horse, cow, pig, goat, sheep, chicken, or pigeon register in a government database and subject their property and animals to constant federal and state government surveillance, and the animal owner will have to PAY for the privilege of owning animals!

To learn more about the ramifications of this Government decree and how it will affect everyone, not just farmers and animal owners, navigate our site and visit our forum.

The National Animal Identification System (NAIS) is a national program to identify and track livestock animals, including poultry, horses, cattle, goats and sheep for the purpose of disease containment. NAIS plans to use RFID and GPS technology to track animals, and requires every farm or "premises" be registered with government agencies, even if that premises houses a single animal. While NAIS's purported goal of disease containment appears to be beneficial, the requirement for American citizens to register privately-owned property for tracking and monitoring purposes has very serious implications for our privacy, rights and freedoms.

StopAnimalID.org is the online manifestation of a grass roots refusal to submit to the latest grasping for control of what was once a government of We The People, but has now become a government of Them, The Agri-Conglomerates. This website is a means for like-minded individuals to band together and discover they are not alone in opposing this abuse of privacy and property rights.

Our agenda, perhaps obviously enough, is to stop the National Animal Identification System. We hope to do this by first raising awareness among the public. To do this we will compile a wealth of data regarding the NAIS in an easy to peruse format online. We will also provide printable materials to put the basics of this issue and what it means into places where it will count most, such as feedstores, farm supply stores, farm auctions, etc.

Secondly, we will facilitate communication and interaction via our forum, email and contact lists. We will seek to build an online community where like-minded individuals can go to review current events, their current personal and group tactics and actions and analyze both our successes and defeats.

Finally, we will provide the information needed to effectively combat the juggernaut that is the NAIS, which bears down on us. From editorials to links to analysis of the law and meetings and public hearings. We will seek to publicize the names and addresses of people in positions that make them important to contact. We will push this data into as many hands as we possibly can and fight this issue at the grass roots, online and if needed eventually in the courts.

But to succeed StopAnimalID.org needs the particpation of every single Citizen of these United States who still values freedom and the use of their private and personal property, not to mention their own privacy. Whether you own livestock or not your help is needed. We must have your participation, contribution and effort to succeed in spreading the word, raising consciousness and empowering this movement. Join the fight today. This may be one of the biggest issues of your life.

Did you sign the petition OT?

Nope- I didn't-- But I was totally surprised to see so much "organized" opposition- even talk of the ACLU joining in as a lesser of two evils :???: ... I guess I shouldn't be tho as their is not much trust left in the Big Brother attitude of the Federal Government lately....And there is a huge growing backlash to the current administrations blind backing of big industry over individuals rights and welfare.....

Canada doesn't have that problem  . They would never let packers get away with anything  (I think this is the symbol for sarcasm).

You need to go on the forum and read some of the letters and comments...I'll bet old Johanns has gotten an earful...Nothing more dangerous than telling a little old lady what she has to do with her "pets"- in the name of the Guvment...

Oldtimer I guess it may be ''funny'' what these old ladies are doing now since it fits in with your plan. Will you still think it is ''cute'' when this group of earbenders decides that they do not like our husbandry practices. When there many irate voices scream to the gov. about hot branding will you still chuckle  Carefull who you let in bed with you Oldtimer you may not like all that they bring with them!

mwj,

oltimer is an r-calf person and r-calf has already been known to bed down with anti-ag, anti-beef groups such as consumer freedom of America, the consumers union, public citizen amongst others. r-calf will be our demise...

Actually I support getting a nationwide ID system- I just think its too bad USDA and NCBA have again screwed things up so bad that from now on there will be an organized battle against it...Makes everything that much more difficult.....

Another case of government trying to just shove things down the throat rather than working with everyone to build something...Same as NCBA's "we need to ed-u- cate them thar dumb common folk" policy......You'd think they'd learn from the Japanese fiascos....

Oldtimer says"Actually I support getting a nationwide ID system- "
But R-CALF is so proud of getting M'ID out of M' COOL. another head shaker.

Oldtimer is it the Law to brand in Montana?

M-ID is not required to have M-COOL....USDA says it is only for traceback in the case of disease, anyway...

It is maybe not required in your mind but it was there and you said you support M'ID so why didn't R-CALF leave it there?

Is it the law to brand in Montana?

R-CALF may have known the revolt that US citizens would have against the guvment moving onto their farms with them...But coming from a Socialist country I doubt where you would understand.....

It is not the law to have to brand in Montana.....

So all the BOASTING you have done about your "TRACEBACK" system is flawed. You can't have a paper trail on cattle you can't Identify. So you have no trace back.

when you have horses like OT does... tracking cattle doesnt matter.. HAve you checked out his website BMR? I did and I didnt see any cows on there :???: :???: :?

I don't know about Prime minister. My appointment to texas is going to take up most of my time. Lots of work to down their. A real rotten bunch. Except for Lilly and Tibbs and a few others. Well only one rotten one and he's beyond help I think. :cowboy:

USDA's recent actions make them to look like they aren't really concerned about herd health or diseases....A tag in the ear or a microchip won't prevent a disease or its spread...Strong safeguards on where we import from will...But USDA must not really have a disease concern since they have and/or are recently opening imports of beef from higher risk BSE countries like Japan and Canada, risk FMD countries in South America like Chile, and chicken from a very high risk Avian flu area like Communist China....

No wonder some people don't buy USDA's reasons....They keep switching horses in midstream.....
