I'm the 3rd generation on this ranch. My grandfather homesteaded here in the early 1900's. Grandma and he moved here from Iowa permanently in 1925 when Dad was a little boy. His brother was just a baby and two more brothers were born here.

There is no 4th generation so in my case the article is likely quite accurate.

Heck, John, you are not over the hill yet. Never say never.

Maybe instead of hanging out here at Ranchers.net John should have been visiting over at Cupid.com

Maybe John could adopt so you would have a reason to move south.

I think Grampa was 67 when my Dad was born he kind of ran away with the milkmaid to Canada so it's never too late. I've never been to Scotland but my sister has-the stone house that is several hundred years old just as my Gramma described it. I found an old valise up in the attic-stuffed full of letters-pretty heartbreaking some of them-informing the new Canadians about people dying back home months before. The ones my Dad wrote Grams bitching about having to eat carrots at basic training were pretty funny. I doubt I'll ever get over to Scotland-I don't know as much as I should about that side of the family history. I do have a family bible from the 1840's that my Grampa was given by his Dad. Grampa died 37 years before I arrived.
