has anybody used/owned one of these, and what are your comments about them? We would be using one to only feed with in the winter and chances are it would get some rough use at times, just curious if they are built to last. Thanks

Dad used to have one and we feed a hell of alot of hay with it. He really liked it I know it was kind of a pain to use if you had hard packed bales sometimes they wont unroll. He tipped it over a few times with it because of the side loading arm. We use a feeder called Bale king just the same as a haybuster.

Some of that was heavy bales and being on a slop when we loaded hay. The nice thing was you just drove up along side of the bales instead of backing into them which is a little easier. But I sure like the on I have with the beaters it makes good feed when you lay it out.

Used to use one that had beaters and had lots of trouble getting the bale to feed down into it, there would just be a hole in the bale where the beaters were at times. As well, I have to like the idea of slicing up the bale instead of blowing it out and losing a bunch of leaves with alfalfa. I'd sure like to give the slicer a try in a feedlot setting as well as pasture. Good luck with your decision. Can't say I've ever seen one in action.
