Tennis Elbow

Pain is just fear escaping your body lol. I plumb forgot to take my pills while I was mulie hunting and darned if I didn't die. So my prescription is buy some shells and go hunting-my medical file is about two inches thick of cracks and breaks. We'd probably all, be easier on ourselves if we prepared for work like an athlete prepares for sport-but we don't so we suffer.

 ...I have this also...I caused it fencing...gripping and squeezing the fence cutters...Went to the Doc after a month of Ibuprophin(sp)..She gave me a heavy duty anti-inflammatory, and told me to rub it with Aspercream...and let it rest...If it did not get better..shots were next. She also recommended a cuff worn just below the elbow. It is much better now.. :)

Me too :? . I was given a heavy duty anti-inflammatory as well, but I'm saving it for special... ie calving  .

I'm actually thinking of trying acupuncture... anyone else try this?

Not tried it myself but had a friend with serious recurring back trouble who swears by it. He had tried everything else - doctors, chiropractors, drugs, anti inflamatories etc. A few sessions at the acupuncture and he has healed to the point a good excercise regime can keep him fit now. Definitely something I would consider if I had a problem.

I think "Tennis Elbow" is the affliction I have in my elbows, the tendon that goes over the inboard part of my elbows are inflamed nearly all the time. I only "played" tennis once or twice in my life. I aggravated it pretty bad back in June at Evan's Plunge in Hot Springs, SD swinging on the rings across the pool, something I hadn't done in 8 or 9 years. I figured I'd be sore a couple of days, here it is November and I'm still hurtin'.

I had tennis elbow in both arms for about three years. It finally got so bad that I couldn't pick up a glass of tea using one hand. Hadda grab it with both hands. Finally after the dr prescribing naproxen that I was alergic to, made me wanna eat everythang in sight, and itched all over....I had all I could take. So went to my chiropractor. He done accupuncture. He said....this'll prolly hurt some. To which I replied, "CAn't be any worse than it hurts now....and I've put up with it for a long time" So he went to work. He put the needles in...which didn't hurt at all.....until he reached the spot that was really what hurt. And it did hurt....almost to the point that I couldn't stand it...but not quite. One trip.....one treatment....and after about a week I had no more pain. And haven't since, that was probably 5 years ago.

Dang..I might look into that.. :)

I've had it numerous times. A surgeon showed me an exercise......basically hold your arms out straight in front of you and rotate your wrists.......it works for me. Try it.

Thanks Lilly and Grassfarmer... it's settled, I'm gonna get an appointment for the needles  :D . I'll let you know how it turns out.

I forgot to mention the cause of mine. I was working at a dental office, and had been moved up to office manager. Sitting at a desk, in front of a computer doing insurance forms and other computer work. My chair and desk were at the wrong levels. So it was puttin unnecessary stress on my arms. After my trip to the chiro.....I told my boss what the cause was, and he immediately went and bought me an adjustable chair.

I had it really bad... Went to the doctor and they were no help.. Told me to get a band and wear it.........Hello..... It hurt so bad I was crying and my friends told me to go to a message therapist.... She worked a whole hour on my arm and shoulder. Gave me some excersices to do and whhaa laaa a new women..... Now when it starts to hurt I do the excercises..... simple...... :D

I was talking to a guy at the check-out counter one day and noticed he was wearing a 2" wide copper band around his wrist. Asked him what that was all about and he said it keeps his elbow and leg from hurting. He had the pain in his tendons for years and no modern treatments ever worked for long. He mentioned the problem to an elderly gentleman who told him to wear the copper band and the pain will go away. Three years later he's still pain free. Sounded like a bunch of hocus pocus to me but, if it works.....!!

I agree, massage therapy is very helpful :D . Hurts like hell, but helpful.

I have carpal tunnel in both hands, it has gotten to the point that I probably can't AI anymore, the last time I did my hand locked up and I ended up not only missing that heat but throwing an expensive straw away. My doctor wants me to have surgery but I have heard so many horror stories that I refuse to.

I will have to try acupuncture, thanks, I never thought of that. :)

Oh WR say it isn't so. :???: When I switched from the small idiot squares to the large square bales, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

Ben, it's probably from shakin' your fist at the motorists on your way to and from work....chill out man. 8)

Oh, I say it IS SO!!! :P They would be better than small squares, those are pretty much banned here as well  :D . You'd really think you've died and gone to heaven if you ever got to feed rounds. I prefer twine tied to net wrapped, but I can't always have it all :D .

This fall, I bought one truckload (29 1500# bales) of alfalfa tied with netwrap. That is enough. I don't advocate this stuff at all. :? My first preference is sisal if the bales get hauled off the meadows quick enough (before the twine rots). Next choice is the solar biodegradable twine. Netwrap and plastic twine are to be avoided.
The netwrap shouldn't have to be messed with if your using your bale processor. If the bale is set on end it comes off easily after being cut. Have you tried picking the bale up a little ways with the arms on your bale bed, cutting through it, and then pulling it off? As I understand it, balers without the netwrap option have been selling at quite a discount. I'd sure hate to have to go through another haying season waiting for the string to tie again and again and again............

Copper bands are what people with rheumatism usually wear aren't they?

Several people around here won't buy hay it if its net-wrapped. One of the locals has about 300 brood cows. He says the bottom falls out of his netwrapped bales when he lifts them in the winter. He went back to conventional tying. We use the solar biodegradable. One thing I will say for the net wrap balers, they are faster if you have a lot to bale.

I almost forgot my experience with tennis elbow. When you get it you can certainly tell your elbow and fingers are connected. This reminds me of my college days. We played tennis every chance we got. One night as I was leaving the tennis court to go to my car about 100yds. away across the street, I happened to spot a new tennis ball lying on the pavment next to the curb. I picked it up and had no where to put it since my hands were full of towels, water jug, rackets, etc. So I just put it down my shorts until I could get to the car. As fate would have it, I met a blonde girl who was in one of my classes. Looking down she said what's that? Hurriedly I said just a tennis ball. She said " I know that has to hurt I had tennis elbow last yr myself." :-)

Funny tenbach79? it's plagerism I say - did you not read the earlier version?

Just thought of a joke around this topic - a guy and his girl were going to play a bit of tennis and he had shoved a tennis ball into the pocket of his shorts without his girlfriend seeing him do it. Of course, it made a noticeable lump in his front pocket.

When the young lady saw it she asked "What is that lump in your shorts?"

"Tennis ball", he replied.

"Wow", she says, "That must really hurt. I had tennis elbow one time".

I have no idea, Grassfarmer. I just did a quick search and most of the hits mentioned rheumatoid arthritis and some also mentioned tendonitis
( www.copperdoctor.com ). If the pain in my left arm doesn't go away I might give it a try. Hate popping ibuprofen all the time.

I'll bet there are some guys on here that would like their wives to learn those exercises!
