Tennis Elbow

Sorry burnt, I didn't mean to plagiarize you in regards to your joke. Mine came from a Biology professor I had in college. Everybody have a good one.

Get some copper tablets, eat alot of vitamin C, protein (lots & lots), & multi vitamins.

Get a brace & use it. Don't be swinging any 5# hammers.

It may be necessary to wear the brace at night.

Pick the bales up underhanded on the bad arm.

Been there...Done that

I had tennis elbow in both arms for about three years. It finally got so bad that I couldn't pick up a glass of tea using one hand. Hadda grab it with both hands. Finally after the dr prescribing naproxen that I was alergic to, made me wanna eat everythang in sight, and itched all over....I had all I could take. So went to my chiropractor. He done accupuncture. He said....this'll prolly hurt some. To which I replied, "CAn't be any worse than it hurts now....and I've put up with it for a long time" So he went to work. He put the needles in...which didn't hurt at all.....until he reached the spot that was really what hurt. And it did hurt....almost to the point that I couldn't stand it...but not quite. One trip.....one treatment....and after about a week I had no more pain. And haven't since, that was probably 5 years ago.

Thanks Lilly and Grassfarmer... it's settled, I'm gonna get an appointment for the needles  :D . I'll let you know how it turns out.

Okay, I tried acupuncture for lower back pain I've had close to 12 years. I injured it setting a railroad tie, and it has never been good since.

Anyhow, I had a total of 9 acupuncture treatments, and I've gotten tremendous relief. It was to the point where touching that area of my back hurt, and now I'd estimate 95% of all discomfort is gone. I'm not sure how long this relief may last, but I'm hopeful I can use acupuncture for maintenance from this point on.

I thought calving would be a good test for it, and so far I'm still good. I haven't ridden a horse yet, so I'm cautiously optimistic I'll be able to do that with more comfort too. Who knew I could feel this good! :D

And Lilly you're right, the needles don't hurt at all going in, but can pinch when they adjust the depth, and "hit" the spot you need them to be. The discomfort only lasts a few seconds... and the payoff is well worth it. Thanks again for sharing your story, it helped make my mind up to try it. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner!

Pleased to hear it worked for you WR, I went through a bad spell a few years ago with constant lower back problems and I know what you mean when you say "who knew I could feel so good?" - to be relieved of back pain gives you a new lease on life.

Well, it all boils down to our bodys r not made to last forever. Just like a horse gettin older and every year, a little lackin. Or even a pickup truck. 5 years of ranch life will wear on one. Lots of people take a vitimen sublament called glucosomean. It's comes from crab shell I think but I got a buddy that makes cow wipes and he says he could not plat with out it. I just hope I can keep on doin a little so they won't haul me off for a while. Like to the kill plant to be made into baloney. I use to eat ibuprofin everyday but I only got 1 kidney and its been cut on to. I don't do nothin any more to get ouchy unless the big redfish and drum are pullin hard. I do put out mineral and ride workin cattle but its all in fun for me. Yall try that joint lube I'm talkin about. It takes a little while to get in ur system but I think it works

I believe you must be playing too much tennis...

I have good luck with ibuprofen and absorbine jr.

I've pretty much broke everything over the years. I have always figured a little pain was good for you. Kind of lets you know that your alive. I have heard all kinds of negative things about cortizone, but it sure has worked for me. I have had it in both shoulders and a finger over the last 10 years and it sure has helped. Between that and advil, all this stuff I have inflicted on myself due to stupitity has been bearable.

Ya- I've got quite a few bones broke- and some more times than once...And all the fun I had for years I'm now reminded of by my arthritis....
I've had both cortisone and prednisone-- and the cortisone shots are much more preferable...The prednisone- while it does relieve the pain in the joints- has so many side affects...It puffs you up like a bullfrog and is tough on the heart/liver-- but it works when nothing else will....

We've had two months of almost solid fog- and high humidity- and I don't think I've ever had a more painful spring because of my arthritis....
The weathermen keep promising us sun and a spring thaw-- BUT again this morning its pea soup again- less than 1/4 mile visibility...
If you hear of someone going stark raving mad and assaulting a weatherguesser-- it was me.....

Jeez Northern..........I'm not in denial. I readily admit to serous errors in judgements over the years. Pretty hard to deny it when i am reminded of my follies almost daily by housemate. Oh yeah I forgot.....I did have cortizone in my elbow also, and it helped there also. Thought tennis elbow was an embarrassing medical term though.
