Wonderful set of pictures, Soap!
Thanks for sharing your Thanksgiving Day with us. How many were
there? I could count 14, but I'm sure there were more than that.
Where were the Potter family performing?
I never tire of listening to them.
That 706 tractor sure brought back memories. That's the first bigger
tractor we ever had and I ran it more than all the others put together.
I told Mr. FH I was going to buy one someday...
For Thanksgiving, along with a Turkey breast, I fixed a BBQ brisket,
and it was delicious. First time I had tried one, but I found a good recipe
that called for Liquid Smoke, since it wasn't nice enough outside to cook
it on the grill.
Those grandkids, they are getting to the age where they are really a ton
of fun!
There were 34 people for Thanksgiving at Peach's mother's house. This included nine kids age five and under.
The Potter family performed yesterday afternoon at the Inland Theatre in Martin, South Dakota. Even though the population of Martin is less than 1100 people, it is the largest city in the United States that isn't on a railroad or a navigable waterway, hence the name "Inland" for its theater.
The 706 is a very nice tractor with only about five hundred hours. It is for sale, and located in Rapid City. I would be more interested in it if it had a wide front end.
Was that a gas tractor, or diesel? 500 hours? Was that on a new engine?
What were they asking for it, if I may ask.
Years ago we put a wide front end onour old International 'H' tractor.
That was after the meat butcher in Wyoming came to the ranch to butcher a beef for us.
The beef was part Holstein and BIG!! The old butcher had been drinking and when he went
to load the dead steer on the farmhand on the H, he got it chained too close to the edge of the farmhand.
When he backed out of the corral, he turned the (narrow) front end as far as possible. The steer started swinging and OVER
went the tractor! I never saw an old guy move that fast in my life! Luckily,
he wasn't hurt. Booze does that sometimes, you know. Anyway
the brand inspector was there and we tipped the tractor back over on it's
wheels......none the worse for wear.....but we did put a wide front end on it later on...
