Herd of 250 black xbred cows sold close by here today. Didn't see them all sell but was told that you had to be waving your hand high and hard at $1700 if you wanted IN. The list I saw had prices from $1600 to $1850.

The 150 bred heifers sold from $900 for a few little runts to $1700.00 what I saw.

I didn't stay very long. The guys coming out the door when I got there (late) were shaking their heads. All of them. Kinda staggering in fact.

See the cows below.

It is getting close...
We decided here that if commercial cows get to $2000 we are selling 1/3 or so, selling the other 1/3 but custom operating them, and keeping our best third so we can get back in the game (and because we have no hobbies).
It is getting close to the point where we might have to put our money where our mouths are...

I put in a bid on a load of 3 year old Angus cows at Brooks yesterday, $1400 didn't buy any but we started all of them.

I will have some cows in June I might let go for $1400.

They'll be cheap beside Kit's.

Oh ya I forgot, my loss could be your win.

I bought the baldy calves off those Brooks cows for a customer last weekend. There's 167 heifers in the bunch will be getting bred to a set of five half brothers if I can get them gathered on the 21st. They're going to make a nice set of F1's.

"Cows avg'd 1740, bulls would avg 33-3400, and bred hfrs were over 1800.

One guy bought 68 cows.

No shortage of bidders . . . ."

I'm thinking you're in Canada?

1.0243 U.S. to buy 1$ Canadian.

Just did a deal up there---plus, if I mail a check I'd have to add about 3% additional to 'change the money' and if I wire it, it's worse!

How on earth they can justify this---with probably the two biggest trading partners in the world---is absolutely beyond me!!

I did get around it--very good friend who's Canadian and has payments to make down here---he went over and paid my bill, I did the math and put equivilent u.s. $ in his u.s. bank. But had we not been able to accomodate each other---we'd of both got hosed.

I had the guy at the Canadian bank's email address--so, I wrote him a nice note, explaining that I was getting old, tired, had always been lazy---and i was interested in gettting into his line of work---BUT--explained that i also have trouble sleeping at nite, and wondered how one justifyed it?

Still awaiting reply.

I think we should just trade, then we will both be winners.
