We live in the bottom of the Big Muddy valley and getting out to the west is a mean, narrow leaning steep hill. It has claimed many victims over the years.
I have cut drive shafts off truck that twisted and broke them, pulled truck up the hill when icy. Had people walk in and wait out storms until Hiways could get the hill plowed and sanded. I have had brake pots blow out coming down and even rode a 400 Versatile swather off the steep ditch and through the fence when a key came out of the axle and wheel.
Today i was coming home with a load of oats in the mixer wagon from a neighbors when half way down the tractor started bucking and shaking. I didn't know what was going on but out of the corner of my eye I saw a tire off the Big Augie headed for the ditch. I got pulled off on our old road into the ranch half way down and got out to look at the damage. The tire was out in the pasture and the rim already bent beyond repair. Since I was already off the road i just pulled on home on the rim. Got the wagon unloaded and found a tire and rim off my old hay trailer that was holding air so i picked the wagon up with the other tractor and put on a "New" tire and wheel.

Wonder why my hair is getting thin on top and i don't accomplish much some days.

An old log truck driver told me those moments are best described as "when your azz hairs turn into fish hooks".

Glad your "fix" job wasn't expensive. Thank God for Red Green.
