The sun has finally come out, the temperatures are warming up and the grass is greening too. The last few days we have been busy, fencing, moving cows, fencing, moving cows.... DH has done a little field work too, and we have about 1/2 the herd branded and vaccinated. Here's some of what we've been up to the last week or so..
These always bring a smile to my face.
This guy was out enjoying the sun the day we were fixing the fence through the creek bottom.
The first bunch of cows that we managed to get out to pasture
Lots of water and old grass, and a little new green stuff underneath, makes happy cows.
A happy cow
The last bunch of cows to go out, they just got hauled away today. This was their last bale a couple of days ago.
My favorite old cow had another heifer calf this year!
Thursday I helped a friend move about 200 cows about 12 miles to pasture.
Just hitting the road with the last of them
This little guy was tuckered out after the first half mile. He got a ride in the trailer.
It was this mare's first time on the end of a rope
My second ride of the day, and her second of the year... But a good girl, waiting patiently for me after I helped put a calf in the trailer.
I believe that this is a ' I'm waiting....' look
Going for some of the wanderers
Nearing the end of the trail
The view
A cowboy, his horse and his dog
Some of them are nicely lined out
Someone hitched along, and now she's wondering where her calf is..
It was a looong walk
Finally
what we've been waiting for
The limousine, heading over the hill to deliver it's occupants back to their mamas
An empty saddle
A tired dog
Relaxing horses
That green grass sure is tasty
My 2 rides
This little guy couldn't find his mama, he thought he should head on back to where he came from...
My other ride
Hmm, guess she decided she should go back to her own herd....And calf....
Went all that way, guess we should introduce ourselves??
A nice ending to the day
