The following pictures depict a tongue-in-cheek look at gentling a heifer, with secrets brought to you by "the heifer whisperer."
I pull up to a windmill with my pickup, and this heifer clearly shows a fleeing instinct.
She stops, and I suppress the urge to jump right out of the pickup.
She stands. I give her some time to settle.
She is licking her lips, which indicates that she has resigned to the fact that the pickup is on her turf.
I quietly get out, and again she wants to flee
I stand very still and hide behind my camera.
She is accepting me.
Now she swaps ends, still with an inclination to vanish the premises.
Still very alert, she accepts me once again.
Now she is calm, cool, and collected, and we have become old buddies. I now declare her "gentler than she used to be."
