It is people like you that ruined the republican party. I don't give a rats ass about any of the social conservative issues. Judging by yesterdays election results alot of others think the same thing. I imagine you will be leading the charge to vote on abortion again in South Dakota two years from now.
The GOP has to become the "big tent" party again. Over the last 10 years they have become hostage to "Social Conservatives" that turned off many "Fiscal Conservatives". They have become intolerant of other "social" views. And they have lost generations of young voters...2/3 of under 40 voters voted for Obama...Along with the majority of women..Only one age group went to McCain- over 60....
They need to return to being the hawkish "cheap skate" smaller gov't, "fair" trade, term limit, anti-earmark/lobbying, anti interventionalist as their top and only priorities!
If they stick with the living or dying on extremist social issues and tying extremist evangelist/pentacostal religion with their party and government--- they will die.... Social values are changing- and all they do is make the whole party look like hypocritical fools every time some (R) politician gets themselves caught in some bathroom stall- congressional pages bedroom- or on the credit card list of some Madam...
Many that have known John McCain for years believe he would have done much better just being himself- and running his own campaign- and made a huge mistake by bringing in the Karl Rove attack/innuendo/fearmongering tactics thru his campaign manager Steve Schmit (a Rove protege)- who is also the person that picked Palin to satisfy the radical right- but who not only turned off much of that group but turned off much of the center and independents too....
Ironically after all the mudslinging innuendo and fear tactics put out promoting that Obama was a Muslim- 66% of the Jewish folks voted for Obama according to the exit polls...
