I woke up this morning to a pleasant view of visible moisture.
Not Dillans raging river but being as we had run off already, a little going down the ditch is a good sign.

The last of the pregnant ones.

Some of the calved ones.

The bonus part of having snow is you can see the moisture.

Went on a drive around the block.

I could see these running yesterday while I ran mine.

Snow on new small grain seedings is a beautiful thing. In the midwest if we can get a snow on our oats it is usually a beauty of a crop. Hope the same holds out for you.

What are these??? wow! direct seeding? When i have time and money i want to visit Canada... I'd like to see some real agriculture. (Here its mostly forestri and mobilephone engineering  )

PAL, those are airdrills and airseeders and yes they are capable of seeding directly into the stubble. Really when it gets right down to it not much has changed. Our forefathers used drills and diskers that could do that too. What has changed is the ease of filling, how much can be done between fills, the automatic fold up ease of moving and the acres that can be done in a day. Not to mention that they steer themselves and never overlap thanks to GPS.

26 is too cold to wake up to at this time of year. My airseeder also has a liquid component to it and we got at least that cold the other night which caused a several hour thawing process while all my neighbors ran. A little rain makes good grass managers out of most of us.

They cost just a little bit more too-a black cultivated field is something to comment on now a days. I wish the technology would of got here sooner I could of spent my summers as a kid doing something besides summerfallow No wheels have turned here yet that I know of.

We've got everything ready for seed that we're going to seed this year.
Hey NR, did you ever work for a guy named Nels Hansen one spring when you were a lad?

Yes I did work for Nels and his Dad Veirl one summer between first and second year university-I got along pretty good with Nels but old Veirl was a bit of a politician-liberal with the work and conservative with the wages. Nels mother was the auntie to a friends of mine that I grew up with. I'd heard that Nels had sold out for some pretty good coin. They ran cattle close by Brightsand Lake-I hayed all summer there with mowers and a Massey 44 lol.

If you want to see sustainable agriculture, go to Cuba. What you see in these pics may be agriculture, but I wouldn't call it real.

That's interesting NR. Nels comes up here to work most winters and I have got to know him quite well in that time. When I mentioned you he figured you'd be the one. A very interesting and knowledgeable man. If anyone can sit down with a pencil and figure things out from one end to the other he's the guy.

I ran into him years ago in the bar in St. Walburg and he said I was a hard worker so that made my day. His relatoves up here in Meadow Lake are quite the characters lol.
