This will be a very sad year

Happiness ain't a geographical location on the map. I spent a lot of years and money finding that out. You are doing the right thing; the hard thing, but right.
Bet your arn't any more wired for 2 30's than I am. I'll stick. Good luck, & God bless. We'll still be here when ya relocate.

I can't emagine my wife wanting to move to an area where the cold would make me so misserable. As for the son in law, you can't control your grown children. There going to do what there going to do. If it's just you and the wife, I would think down sizeing would be a piece of cake. Life at best is very short. If you make decisions based on keeping everyone happy thats just great. Do you think everyone will be happy if you are misserable. I have read many of your past posts and I can tell that you love your ranch lifestyle. I'm not you but I would dig in and hang on. If you need help there is plenty of it in Texas. Good luck,
~Rocky.

What area of Illinois are you looking at??

Southern Illinois....as far as you can get from Chicago. Looking for 50-70 acres, given the prices there, that is about all I can afford...if that. Currently talking to realtors about property in Jackson and Williamson counties.

I have looked for the right property for 35 years...but I was always looking at 300-500 acres. Seems the rising prices was always a step ahead of what I could afford. The 126 acres here, I settled for, doesn't have the infrastructure in place, the two places being 70 miles apart is keeping me busier than what I would really like. So...downsizing, yes some what.

I just may end up keeping the fifth wheel....and 3 months of winter, I just may spend somewhere in the south.
