Holy Smokes that'd hurt!!!!!
But, I remember GPa would use the salt from the smoke house if any of us kids were found to be bleeding.
It sure stopped the habit of wanting 'attention' when one got hurt!!! You just bled and kept moving....
I think my mama and grandma invented the saying, "Pourin salt in a open wound" I swear that was their cure all. And as for the hissy fit....if ya thru one in the process of bein dr'd on....it was a sure bet that you would get a butt bustin shortly there after. Like ya said....You just bled and kept movin!!!
I swear, I'm thinking we must be related somehow!!!

On the larger cutting bulls - the ones that are bad to jump around in the chute - I've started trying to wear a tight leather glove on my left hand (I cut with my right) to grab the sack with. After it gets wet, it's easy to shake it off, so that still lets you use that hand to pull nuts or do the fine trimming on the fat, etc. Then just slip it back on before you do the next one.

Had 3 calves this year that I couldn't find the second one. Left them to cut at branding. Only found 2 on one of them. The other 2 are still intact. Not rocket science.
