.....is too many times to get dumped off of one horse. First time probably my fault, I thought I was being clever. This mare just hates the bit and fights it all the time (don't see wolf teeth :???: ) so today tried a hackamore. Turns out I should have introduced her to the bosal a little more slowly with some ground work rather than piling on like I did. Didn't take many seconds before she went over backwards with me. Ruined a stirrup in the process.
Second time I'll take some blame too. I was about five miles into my little ride and on a gravel road when suddenly realized my 'get down' rope was no longer neatly tucked into my belt loop which meant it was on the ground. The mare got pretty buggy eyed over this deal so I got off and retrieved it rather than reaching for it. I didn't give her much of a chance to calm down and baled back on. Not sure what happened next exactly but whatever it was couldn't have been very cowboy-like because I landed on my head in the middle of the road. Sore now so I'm guessing I'll be moving rather slow tomorrow.
