.....is too many times to get dumped off of one horse. First time probably my fault, I thought I was being clever. This mare just hates the bit and fights it all the time (don't see wolf teeth :???: ) so today tried a hackamore. Turns out I should have introduced her to the bosal a little more slowly with some ground work rather than piling on like I did. Didn't take many seconds before she went over backwards with me. Ruined a stirrup in the process.
Second time I'll take some blame too. I was about five miles into my little ride and on a gravel road when suddenly realized my 'get down' rope was no longer neatly tucked into my belt loop which meant it was on the ground. The mare got pretty buggy eyed over this deal so I got off and retrieved it rather than reaching for it. I didn't give her much of a chance to calm down and baled back on. Not sure what happened next exactly but whatever it was couldn't have been very cowboy-like because I landed on my head in the middle of the road. Sore now so I'm guessing I'll be moving rather slow tomorrow.

I had to bring up a horse this afternoon. Yesterday, I laid my JD Gator on its side, this morning, I parked the 4 wheeler in the river. Not on purpose, it left me on the bank. Horse did ok, but he has a BIG motor.

Got to be a story here. How did you put your Gator on its side? I thought that would be pretty hard to do.

My wife says I HAVE to move critters with a horse, that way there is at least 1 brain involved.
As for the Gator, all you have to do is take off chasing something, then turn on a sidehill. There is NO bicycling them. When the 2 wheels come off the ground, if goes FLOP.
The 4 wheeler this morning, cows went around a fence up the river. The 4 wheeler goes through the swamps way better then a horse, but a horse can sense when the bank drops off. We have so much grass I couldn't see the bank, hit a stump that the beaver had left. Got bucked off, and the 4 wheeler went swimming.
Lost my phone in the process too....

sounds like pack saddle time , 4 salt blocks, after you scatter the first two stach the lash rope in a panyard, or just don't even bother with a lash rope

Y'know that's a great idea. I just might put a pack saddle on her in the next day or two and put some miles on her. I like the salt idea too.
I think I'll wait until my headache goes away though

You take care of yourself til that headache goes away! Seems like every now and then we get reminders that we are not indestructible...

Best trick in the book Jody. Make sure a few of those miles go through timber Silver and you'll never worry about your knees when you ride her.
