America's two largest packers, Tyson Foods Inc. and Cargill Inc., both own plants in Canada, which they have expanded in the past two years. Both companies' financial statements have mentioned their Canadian operations as the bright spots amid otherwise poor financial performance since the border closed.

According to Statistics Canada, Canada has about 3 million steers and heifers intended for market -- 40 percent more than it did a year ago.

Yep, also heard that Cargill and Tyson are buying up a lot of Cardboard lately, that market has been going crazy lately!

Canada would be much better off with these two companies expanding and looking after the Canadian producers. If they were to quadruple in size and merge you would REALLY be in good hands according to SH. Remember, the bigger the company, the more efficient they are, the more efficient they are the more they make, UUUUMM, I mean, the more they pay. :???:

Hell, we might just find a way to buy them up or queeze them out.
We all sit back and blame packers(except SH), but at least in Canada we are supporting our Co-op owned packers and independents starting up. Unfortunately in the US r-calf is making them go broke!
