My father=in-law just retired as a lineman. I don't know how you guys do it!!

That's to funny!!!!   Now who in the hell left the door open up there? I was just starting to enjoy Global warming and someone tries to be funny up there and did this. I got up this morning and it was 18 degrees here. Is someone trying to freeze over the Gulf of Mexico or something.

We're only about 5 degrees in F colder than you are this morning Trinity.

For once, we are about the only spot that hasn't been hit hard by winter and I'm not complaining.

I remember in the 80's we had 6" of snow and stay below freezing for a week. The temperature got down to 4 one night and we lost a concrete water tank that was 4' tall and 4' wide frozen with gold fish in it.

Weeeeeeeeeelllll, it's 40 below (windchill) and I don't give a ****, but I sure am not going to a rodeeeeeeeooooooo
My wool coat keeps me toasty, sweating like crazy, gotta heater in my truck, but I don't want to waste the fuuuuuueeeeeelllll
added a 1 am feeding, to keep my cows happy and I can't believe I licked that polllllllllllllllllllll
'cause here I am stuck.....ok I'll quit.... :P

Shoot, RA, the last time I did that I was in the 8th grade and stuck my tongue on one of the phone booths. And I was way too old even then to be that dumb. :P

-27 at the ranch this morning, -5 here in South Dakota. No wind at the ranch, a bit of a breeze here in SD. But it's warming up........

It was sunny and 36F yesterday and more of the same today. We have had almost no snow and this in an area that normally receives 600+ inches per year. The ski resorts usually open at Thanksgiving but only one has opened with limited skiing to date. We really need some precipitation to avoid a drought next summer. Although I am glad that I am not in Northeastern Montana right now.
Warmed up a little as it is -19,was -28 at 5am. A real character builder. I'm the old man that tells the used to be stories and these younger ones think that I'm totally full of B.S. One thing that we did'nt have was a heeted cab on the feed tractors and we got our first 4 wheel drive pickup 65 years ago[thought we were really a super swell operation] That outfit and a couple good scoops we went just about anywhere we wanted. We had cold weather but was used to it and did'nt know any better so just did what needed doing and always knew that spring was not so far off.

Yep same here... 100 miles west up on the mountain its 30 ABOVE, so the warm air is coming... :D

Youngest son just got home from work - whiteout conditions took 1/2 hour to go 15 miles. He's kinda glad to be off the road.

Oldest son just left to go back to work on Baffin Island where they also are looking at blizzard conditions. Forecast for tomorrow in -28C (-19F) with winds of 120 KMh (75 MPH) or higher.  He might not be leaving Ottawa Airport if those conditions become reality.

That's what I have here also -10 and 35 mile per hour wind, makes it unfit for man or beast.
I just returned home from fixing a power outage, makes me really enjoy my line of work. Oh well it allows me to keep this expensive hobby of mine
I also decided while out working tonight that the Canadian's on here must be tougher than hell !!! I couldn't take a whole winter of cold weather like this.

Sounds like Muk Tuk Annie has quite a few sisters up there . . .

He's gone back for his second 6 week contract. Iqaliut, Nunavut, is a growing town with lots of new housing and buildings to wire.

All on permafrost :?

It got down to -17F on Sunday evening and I got the plow truck stuck at 11:00PM and had to walk 3 miles - - - great thing was the wind was at my back. It was all the way up to -15F this morning with a 25MPH west wind blowing the roads I cleaned back closed and a -45F wind chill - - - I left the heater on the defrost full blast and still had to stop several times to clean the wiper blades.

I just shut the truck off for the first time since about 7:00 AM on Sunday - - - I have all the roads in my quadrant clean but they all have about 2" of ice.

Should be +40F on Friday and +45F on Saturday with an inch of rain predicted!

When you figure the foot to 18" of snow we have if it gets that warm and raining we will be flooded again!

I stuck my tongue on a door handle deal when I was young...lol. All of a sudden the ride to school showed up, so I just ripped it off of it so nobody knew I did it....:D

Life is all about how you look at it... :D I've waiting for it to get that close to 40 below so I could change the words to that song and look dumb on here for awhile...I'm content.... :D

Suppose to get up to 28 here today. I'll be hard to find....gonna find some shade and something cold to drink.... :D :D

it's over 40 above right now ,never froze last nite, been mild for last week, couple inches of frost on lawn, just the sod---had to dig up a sewer line.

stubble where wind hits, you could farm.

Got up to +7F this afternoon and they said it will be up to +12F in the morning. High tomorrow is supposed to be +24F - - - heat wave!

Had to fire back up about 3:00 PM and go do rescues - - - you cannot believe the IDIOTs out there - - - we are in a "Red Zone" and people on non emergency travel are to be arrested, vehicles impounded, $1,000.00 plus towing fee to recover the vehicle.

So far I have towed them out and sent them on their way telling them I'm reporting their license number and if they are found out again they will go to a nice warm jail for the night.

It is a pain to try to keep the roads open with cars stuck every few miles in the middle of the road - - - About 10 years ago it was worse than this and the County sent me out in loaders and we were told any abandoned vehicles were to be pushed off the road with as little damage as possible.

I had a person call in and complained that I had pushed their jeep almost a mile - - - I moved it off to the side as soon as I saw it but I could have pushed it a good ways before I saw it!

Went to bed at +34F last night with light snow - - - got up at +37F this morning. About 1/2" of new snow.

The snow is melting from the ground up. If you scrape the snow off the ground underneath is mud with water sitting on it looking for a way out.

Cattle have to stay on the paved areas or risk sinking out of sight. We had 18" of snow on Tuesday and it is down to about 6" now.

When we got the first 6" of snow it had been in the +40sF for a couple of days and the snow came down at +36F so the ground was warm and insulated.

With the mid +40sF forecast again today and upper +40sF and 1" of rain forecast tomorrow I feel most of the snow will be gone but I'm not sure what we will have then - - - weatherman is calling for floods again - - - we just had a 150 year flood about a month ago! I guess our drought is broken!
