I shouldn't write this while being in a disgusted mood, but here goes. Every year in December, Vermeer has a special on their net wrap. If you are in their good graces, you get a parcel in the mail that looks like a Pringles potato chip can. Along with a sample of their net wrap, also included is a coupon. With this coupon, if you buy fifteen rolls, you get the sixteenth one free. Sixteen rolls is a pallet. This is a user-friendly way for all involved. Payment can be made at the end of the year, for tax purposes. This being five or six months before being needed, delivery can take place later. In pallet form, shipping and handling is easy for all involved.

Here is the kicker--without the coupon, the sixteenth one is not free. For some reason, even though we purchased a brand new Vermeer Super M baler just two years ago, and have bought a pallet full of net wrap each year for the past several years, our name didn't get on the elite list of those getting a measly 6.66% discount. Without the coupon, a buyer is SOL.

To my way of thinking, one free roll out of sixteen is no great glorious deal anyway. Anyone should be granted this opportunity, not just someone who trades balers every year. I will give as an example the Vigortone mineral company. There is about a two month "window of opportunity" each spring and fall, where the offer is if you buy ten bags, you get an extra one free. This ten percent discount is certainly a better deal than Vermeer's 6.66% discount. The best thing is that everyone who wants to buy mineral qualifies for the deal. As a business, this encourages new buyers as well as keeping the old buyers happy.

I am in no way disgruntled with our local dealer. They are good folks who are only carrying out the Vermeer policy. I was all set to buy a pallet of net wrap, pay now, and pick it up in June. Now I have changed my mind, and will probably buy a pallet of net wrap of a different brand. The little $261 (price of one roll) discrepancy doesn't amount to a hill of beans, but it still rankles this old geezer. It might be enough to consider a John Deere or Ford/New Holland baler the next time around. :?

I liked your example :D and you are right.

Everyone should be treated the same. EVERYONE! John Deere has a promotion like the one you mentioned and their net wrap will work in your baler. You might give them a call. I think the dealership where you bought the baler should throw in the 16th roll of net wrap as a good service for a dependable customer. If the dealership doesn't do this, they stand to lose much more business than one roll of net wrap will cost them.
If it were my dealership, I'd do that without hesitation. No one can afford an unhappy customer. Sometimes the dealer has to step up and do what the company won't do. Golly, it's ONE ROLL of netwrap. You'd think they were giving away a whole baler. I don't blame you for being upset.

People have jumped ship and switched brands of cars, feed, etc., over LESS.

If you wanted to shake 'em up, go trade for a green baler (or whatever your color of choice is), before the end of the year. The Vermeer dealer WILL hear about it, and likely report it to the nitwits at the corporate level.

Isn't it amazing how customer service has went to heck in a hand basket? From restaurants to dealerships, nobody seems to give a rip anymore. When ya find good service it's the exception rather than the rule. Sure ticks a guy off. I don't blame ya for being disgusted. :?

" It might be enough to consider a John Deere or JOHN DEERE or maybe a JOHN Deere baler the next time around!!"

ps--their wraps better too....

Perry would squeal like a stuck hog if you up and switched.
I don't think I have been in there twice in the last 4 years, that someone wasn't talking about you. You have been quite an attribute to him and his products. Same goes for his neighbors to the east.
You have probably done more advertising for them, then all their "paid"adds.

Maybe someone should show the dealer / Vermeer this thread/posts. Lot's of people check out these site's when purchasing something new or looking for review's on everything from boot's to camera's to haying equipment.

I know that a chicken crap deal like that would sure have me looking elsewhere. And telling everyone i know :!: :!:

I've mentioned to our local sales man that I was interested in a new baler. He sells both NH and Vermeer. He said he prefers the Vermeer 605 Super M and if I can find one to buy it. :?

I kind of figured he would have more resources at hand to find one sitting on a lot in Canada then I would.

Guess to Super N's are going to be more money.

Anybody know of a new Super M sitting at their local dealership?

Soap if you or anyone else needs net I can beat the heck out of vermeer of johndeere net by at least 30 bucks a roll. I'm not a dealer but I get all my twine and net from a friend that is. May not be the greatest net, its the only kind i use so i have no comparison, but at the price it's hard beat.

the service after the sale will be remembered a lot longer than the sale. our Vermeer baler caught fire this year and because of the lousy service from where we bought it we now have a NH baler. when the dealer can't even get a belt for a baler he sold you, without a big ordeal. the NH dealer comes to our cattlemen's meetings he is not afraid to socialize with farmers because he does a good job standing behind what he sells.

Our Vermeer dealer is wonderful. Sounds like we are lucky!

BMR, he did have some of those 300M balers last I knew. He is Trendline Equipment, Greg Gunderson, Baker, Mt.
406-978-3777 is his cell #. I put in a call to him just now and his wife said he was not there but will call us back tomorrow. He teaches Ag at the High School so it's not easy to catch him during the day in fall/winter. I will find out for sure if he has one in stock. He carries a real good inventory usually.

Just be careful about switching brands, I think I heard that Vermeer actually makes some of the equipment for Deere and other brands. You'd actually be right back and buying a Vermeer.

My local dealer found an extra coupon, so I was able to purchase 15 rolls of net-wrap and get the 16th roll free. He still doesn't know why I wasn't issued a coupon directly from Vermeer. Here is another head scratcher. He asked, "Will you feed the hay or sell it?" I've bought a lot of hay through the years, but have never sold any, and told him so. Here is the kicker--if the net-wrap buyer feeds the hay to his own cattle, sales tax is charged. If the hay will be sold, there is no tax charged. I paid the sales tax. Someone please tell me a logical explanation for this little rule. :?

Maybe he read this forum... :p  :D

Anyway, as you say, "all's well that ends well."

That's crazy that you have to pay tax on the net wrap when you feed it to your own cattle.

There was an article in the Tri-State about the new Ag exemption in Nebraska and it sounded pretty complicated to me.

Maybe the same people worked on both....and neither made any sense... :?
