Soap do you ever have to push dirt back around your tanks from the cattle walking it down/punching it out? It's been pretty wet here this summer for a change and around a couple of our tanks it turned into a mudhole and got to the point that only the tall cows could reach - and there aren't many tall Galloway cows! We had to build it back up with some fill.

Soap do you ever have to push dirt back around your tanks from the cattle walking it down/punching it out? It's been pretty wet here this summer for a change and around a couple of our tanks it turned into a mudhole and got to the point that only the tall cows could reach - and there aren't many tall Galloway cows! We had to build it back up with some fill.

Yes, an annual spring ritual is going around with a tractor and loader to "bank tanks." This is piling up some sand around the outside edges of the water tanks. Cattle tromping to get a drink smooth out the sand later.

Do them tanks just have a dirt bottom?

The tanks have either a plastic tarp-type bottom or several sacks of bentonite scattered and raked until it holds water.

Mine too. I got quesy just from photo's. Never had that problem until we built this house and the wind was blowing 40 mph about half way into putting up the roof.

I've got a 60' wind generator tower here in the yard. Climb that a few times and a 30' windmill tower doesn't seem any higher than standing on a chair. :wink:

Ya'll wouldnt make very good linemen! :wink: Try climbing 60 foot western red cedar power poles wearing a set of hooks. IT'S FUN! I climbed up a 400' tower and replaced the aircraft warning lights once. It was a long ways up but the veiw was cool. Thanks for the pictures Soap.

I hope someone was with ya... It's not very safe climbing windmills alone.. And I hate to be a nag, but I too am scared of hieghts so no messing around on the platform for pictures and just get down from there!!
