We have ALOT of snakes here!! Spring is the worst, they start coming out to get warm. They young ones are the worst because they don't care where they go to get warm. I get several a year up on the concrete patio. Summer when it gets hot they are usually up under things so we just be careful when moving anything.
My son brought some king snakes out and turned them loose a couple of years ago and that seemed to help keep the bad snakes down a bit. We have the sidewinders here in this part of the desert.
My dogs get bit every year but never had one die. An old man told me years ago to give them goat's milk if they get bit so I do. Don't know if that is what saves them or if they are just immune to snake bites by now!
I had never heard about the moth balls, but I think I'll try that around the patio before spring!
