Water Crossings

Weren't we talking about trying to keep water crossings in the other day? Now we have "locals" trying to run a rafting business right through the ranch. My problem is the river isn't deep enough to keep the cows from going up or down it, so I put either a "hot wire" across, or a barb wire across it. In the past, with only about 10 tubers, coming down, I have had to run out after they go through to put my river crossings back up. I don't have a problem with "Joe Public" using the river, but respect my fences. If they want to commercialize public water, get their butts out there and help figure out how to keep cattle where they should be.

I'm afraid that is what its coming to. It wouldn't have po'd me quite as bad if they would have let us guys on the river know what they were thinking, but once again its all a big surprise.
 
Maybe you should get everyone on the river together and set up a plan with the county . It sounds like this is just the beginning and pretty soon your cattle will have to be fenced off from river access anyways.

Not that we have a lot of water in my country, but....... :D Utah got tired of folks not respecting private property rights and passed a law making streambeds part of the property. You can only access a stream on private land with the landowners permission. Pissed off of lot of fishermen and rafters but made a bunch of happy ranchers.
 
Wyoming I own the stream bed, or river bed, you can float but you can't wade. You can get out of your boat to go over under or around anything blocking the stream, but you cant fish while portageing your boat
