Watermelon Hooch

Do it' old school' and run it thru a radiator!!!

HUH? We haven't distilled any yet. Will use a clean condensor tho.

Alcohol is made in the mash by the yeast interacting with the sugars.

The only thing distilling does is remove the alcohol from the water, etc.

I tasted it yesterday. Not too bad. It's getting a "Tangy", "Winey" taste now.

Color is good. Looks like a blush wine. Pink.

Maybe try making vodkamelon juice or Yukaflux cocktail. Niether is dangerouse to you health (unless to consume way too much) or illegal. If you want more imfo i can IM you back.

:( Yukaflux....ya not dangerous to ones health...I STILL remember the hangover at my five year reunion, and that was 25 years ago this year...GROOAANNNNNN.

It did taste purdy good though.....grooaaannnnn

Too late but i guess you now know don't eat only fruit. We do a yukaflux party every year and usally mix 2- 210 L batches for the party. Balance is the key.

Hey Mike...

Will your brew make wine or some other concoction? Last year we were over at the LT hunting lodge and some NASCAR driver (for the worshippers, sorry I don't remember who...) had been there and brought shine. Man that was some powerful stuff...kinda reminded of kerosene!

Will your brew be that potent?

In the realm of home brews, I really prefer Red Eye or Apple Pie. Good Red Eye is damn hard to beat, but again is one of those things that will get the best of you if you're not careful!

Cheers---

TTB..if the 'shine' doesn't suit your taste it has a multitude of uses.

It will power your car/truck /quad etc( not sure about the pollution issues), will clean lead paint from just about any surface, will kill fleas on your dog, remove hair, clean out drains ,add some peppermint candy to it and let soak and you have a world famous Southern cure-all potion,......and it will make ANY cake you bake 110% better!!!

It's the cure for whatever ails you!!! It's under practically ever kitchen sink ( in a shiny Mason jar) in the South....well that is if you're a ' registered' Southern, and that's a whole ' nuther topic!!!

Oh well, (sigh)................. I'll just have to get some other Southerner to bring some up, some day. (insert emoticon with sad puppy dog eyes here)

Thanks Mike. I'll PM our address. If I make any Red Eye, I'll reciprocate.

The neighbors make really good chokecherry and rhubarb wine! But this comes from someone who doesn't really like wine, so in the world of wine, it just might be the worst stuff ever.

This stuff was in a shiny Mason quart jar. There were several varities...blueberry I think was one. We had a fellow RA breeder from IA as our guest. He likes to drink beer about as much as we do. Lazy Ace and the Iowaegian were big chickens and wouldn't even take a sip. I at least took a sip...that was more than enough for me. I think I even commented that if I wanted to siphon gas out of a car, I'd siphoned gas! They all were getting their laughs off me, but at least I tried it! I have no doubt that it could strip paint!

I thought it might not be too bad if mixed with something. That was ultimate insult I guess!

I'll stick with Keystone Light...at least I know where it'll take me, and am pretty sure the Stoner won't strip paint either!

Even little kids around here know how to ck the ' bead'!!!!!

No kidding...it does make a great addition to ANY cake batter, try it you'll be amazed!!

JB:

When Mike's brew gets up here, I'll gladly share a little. Heck, if I poke around the Lodge I bet I can find more shine. They host enough Southerners that I bet they have a full supply that they'd let me share!

That's some potent stuff, I tell you. I have no doubt that this fella that you and Kola speak of got into it and didn't come back to life for 2 days.

Have you ever had Redeye (burnt sugar in some circles)? It's pretty good. I used to make schnapps in college...was even pretty well known for it. I haven't done that for a long time, but then again, I ain't as social as I was back then either!

Hmmm, maybe me and a neighbor need to slip up north and look at some bulls? :D

I had Redeye or some such in ND at a wedding one time. I think I will stick to bourbon.
Had a buddy stop in a week or so abo and he brought a pretty fair sized bottle of Crown.

Mix it with a little ice and water and it ain't half bad.

Thanks for the offer and don't be surprised if I take you up on it. Pity there ain't no gigs for me up in your country.
