I've got horses in one of my pastures and hate mixing them with my cattle because one of them is a real ball buster and will chase whatver I put in there.

Anyway, I would like to leave my cattle all together, but some of the calves are getting big and really drawing down the mommas.

anybody ever use on of those blab things? One of those deals you put in the calves nose and he can't nurse? Do they work?

Any input on them or advice?

We used them on a couple of late calves last year, and they work just fine. The calves are pretty angry looking for the first couple of days though! :) Then they get over it. When you do separate them the stress level is zero.

As long as it's not hundreds of calves, it's an easy way to break the bond. Too many calves and just installing and taking them out is a whole lot of work.
