Weekend full of storms

Much like jigs, our place took the brunt of the storms that passed through NC Kansas this past weekend. Took a pretty heavy toll on the crops, but we're a resilient bunch and we will survive.

My father and I did a round of the pastures on 4-wheelers on Sunday morning while everyone else was at church. Don't worry, I always find a way to incorporate pictures of the cows!

Ponds are full and in most cases running over - creeks are full and moving swiftly.

Never good when your spillways looking like you could white water raft down them...

Also checked out the crops, very disappointing to lose the wheat crop this close to harvest. Losses varied from 5-50% of the wheat crop. Some of it was pretty beat up and broken.

Corn didn't fair much better - not sure how it will respond...

I'm going to keep my eye on this guy - I think he has herd bull prospect written all over him...

Monument son that is a do-it-all type of bull, super feminine heifers and growth and thickness in his bull calves. We are going to take a son of his to the state fair this year, that I think should do very well.

Cleaned out a grain bin and took a load of wheat to the Scoular terminal in Downs. They had a rough night also. Blew the middle out of their million bushel grain storage facility.
